Y’all make a good point, for sure. I get that it’s pretty much impossible to not at least look at girls in yoga pants, but it’s the commenting and creepily staring for long periods of time that make us uncomfortable. And honestly, this piece was to spark this exact kind of discussion on the topic–lots of guys still think it’s okay to comment or catcall at women when it’s just not. Hopefully if more people talk about this issue, it will prevent it from happening as often.
“I don’t feel that women are constantly oppressed. I don’t hate males. In fact, I love them.”
^I’d just like to point out that feminism is not about “hating men.” That’s a common misconception and completely inaccurate. Feminists don’t hate men; they may hate being objectified by men and facing gender inequalities in the office, etc.
I feel bad that you thought you had to preface your article with an excuse like that as a justification for writing a “feminist” article, even though it’s a pretty common statement: Women shouldn’t be called crazy for having emotions, and guys shouldn’t be called weak if they show their emotions. Just saying.
Last year my friends and I did went to a house party and stayed until after midnight, then headed out to the bars afterward. It ended up being perfect because we were all with friends for the midnight strike and got to the bars when a lot of people were starting to leave. It was perfect.
Haha! That’s kind of why I wrote the column…to see if other people have been thinking the same thing too or if “I’m taking crazy pills.” Thanks for that informative input, though.

Welp I’m dead now. The brilliance of this column has actually killed me. Thanks a lot, Brian!
Dude, you live in Austin now…you can’t call it cheese dip anymore! It’s QUESO.

This is so accurate it hurts.
I was gonna say, I sincerely hope this wasn’t written from experience!
Haters gon’ hate.
Did anyone else find themselves reading this in a British and/or Australian accent?

These get me every damn time.
Haha, that’s literally every Albany resident’s reaction when I tell them I moved here from Austin. Gotta do what you gotta do for a job, though!
Sorry bud, I’m on the opposite coast…in Albany. I like the initiative, though!

All of these kill me. I’m dead, guys.
You get me.
