New York is kinda the worst. I’ve been here just under five months. It’s still obnoxious and dirty… but as I’m starting to feel the adjustment I’m questioning why I didn’t write this series as I left Chicago, spent a month living transiently in Minneapolis, and ended up in Manhattan as well.
I haven’t had coffee in days. I snoozed too hard and almost missed my first flight. But you know what? It’s going to go uphill from here. I’m going to kick today’s ass.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, in true basic white girl fashion it looks like I will once again be late to work because I needed Starbucks, but on the bright side, I just hit gold card status!!!!
If we’re still guessing Girl’s name, I’m going to go with Amanda. I’ve always liked Amandas, but they’re always crazy. Or Anna. Never have really liked an Anna, also usually crazy.
Dude. No. Started talking to my ex last Christmas after not speaking for six years and we ended up sleeping together exclusively and texting every day with… literally nothing coming out of it. We are exes for a reason. You don’t want this. It’s not worth it.
Rudy is a fantastic movie, but the part that struck me the most was how absolutely correct they got the personality of his south suburban chicago blue collar dad. Reminded me of my ex’s dad in an uncomfortable way.
GOT FREE COFFEE THIS MORNING HELL YEAH but also I was up at the buttcrack of dawn and I’m done with work for the day!!! Time to go make myself an absurdly large breakfast and watch Netflix!!
This helped me get hyped for the day for sure. Avoiding airplane coffee and working in a terminal with no starbs has severely limited my coffee intake.
My taxes are going to be a damn nightmare considering I’ve worked multiple jobs in multiple states, have one ruled by DOT regulations, and have a LOT of stuff I can write off. That being said, some is going toward a trip to Brazil with the roomies, and some is going to bridesmaid expenses for the summer.
I was so proud of myself for actually being an adult yesterday, only to come back to find out I missed the most fire day of content. Well done my dude.
Formal portrait studios: this used to legitimately be a big thing at weddings? Like back in the day there weren’t so many candid photos because they were shooting film. So there’d be a backdrop where people could go take a nice portrait. Source: dad’s been a wedding photographer for 35 years.
This is a semi regular event that I’ve been getting invites to for a couple years. If you spend any time around the Chicago ska/punk scene (or what’s left of it) you hear about this stuff a lot.

I have to throw this out there, when people say “representation matters,” this is exactly what they mean.
UPDATE: AM SOMEHOW NOT LATE TO WORK, #BLESSED

Thank you for giving him Malört, that douche deserved it. Eau de bug spray goes down great, cheers.

Aw yeah, Grandex bringing in the all-star crew. Welcome back!

Spaghetti and microwave vegetables. Gotta get my greens.

Really just beer unless you count the soup I ate when I got off work
Same. I’d do more for Portillos than I would for Casey’s taco pizza tbh.
