  • FishBro 6 years ago on I’m Sick Of My Alma Mater Asking For Donations

I once told the kid on the phone asking me for donations that he made more as a student employee than I was currently making with a 4 year science degree – he actually felt pity on me and hung up. Legit didn’t get a call back for half a year

  • FishBro 6 years ago on Summer Is The Best Because I Don't Have To Stress Out About My Favorite Sports Teams

People in other markets don’t realize how great they have it because their complaints are always “we aren’t competing for any championships right now.” Yeah but you grew up with the Red Wings of the 90s and 2000s, one of the greatest hockey teams ever. Try being a Minnesota sports fan and the only two championships our teams have ever won came before I was born/cognizant of life. I’d gladly take the few years of no championships that New Yorkers/Bostonians/Chicagoans (and now Detroit) love to complain about

  • FishBro 6 years ago on I’m a regular at more than one Subway.

No worries, I had to drive 40 miles to the nearest McDonald’s and they still started recognizing me… “the weirdo who always gets the fish is back – we got any of those left in the back of the freezer?”

  • FishBro 6 years ago on Is It Selfish To Suffer In Silence?

I’d describe myself as very similar, an introverted extrovert, however never one to share my own troubles with anyone. Where I come from, men don’t have feelings – you’re suffering? well cowboy up and get through it. And after years and years of fighting demons alone, I’m finding some things just shouldn’t be kept to yourself. No matter how strong you are, even the lightest of burden can get heavy enough to break you down if you carry it for years. I’m trying to teach myself to open up to people, and I’ve found the couple of times i’ve trusted people, its helped enormously. I always fear I’m going to be a burden on others, but I’ve started to realize that’s our purpose after all, to help our loved ones deal with pain, and to suffer through it with them so that we can then share in the good times to come. I don’t know you, nor your struggles, but I do know first hand the toxicity of internalizing your struggle – so just remember, we’re a community here, and if it helps to write about it, we’ll always be here to listen.

  • FishBro 6 years ago on This Is Why I Hunt

Haven’t been able to get out to one; with field work, haven’t got much time actually in Bismarck the last few years. Love the work they do though.
(Sorry bud – how the heck do you know someone’s replied to you?)

As a wildlife professional, reading this made me so happy – way to get the gospel out there, brother!
And as someone who has only hunted Montana and North Dakota and has never had to worry about other hunters, it’s good to be reminded how lucky we are. We’re blessed in America to have such a wealth of public lands, and it’s something I try never to take for granted. I implore all you outdoorsmen and women to take a step, any step, and get involved in keeping public lands in public hands.

  • FishBro 6 years ago on In Defense Of Taking 3-5 Showers Per Day

Curious as to how many change of clothes you go through? Can’t imagine you’re one of those psychos who showers and gets back into the same set of clothes – so are you doing laundry every other day?

  • FishBro 6 years ago on Can We All Admit That New York City Is Kind Of Garbage?

No bud, as someone who spent 5.5 years in DC being laughed at for being from “podunk” North Dakota because “lol we’ve never even heard of North Dakota, why are you guys even a state/why haven’t we given the Midwest to Canada already?”, I prefer to keep our great part of the country to ourselves.

It might be the fact that I lived a 40 mile drive from a Pizza Hut, but there’s nothing like a personal pan and breadsticks from a Pizza Hut Express. Bombest pizza in the game

  • FishBro 6 years ago on Here Are John Duda's Thoughts On Florida Georgia Line

As someone who grew up on actual country radio in the heartland, I’ve been compelled to start distinguishing between “country” which is full of pretty boy carpet baggers whose boots have never seen a pasture and “western” where you can still listen to songs about rodeos, cattle roundups and western skies – your Chris Ledoux, George Strait, Cody Johnson, Ryan Binghams of the world. The real McCoys. That’s what country was always supposed to be.
