Agreed. For the record, I was in a similar situation as you, but my dad gave me permission to punch the bully back. He got a broken nose and a suspension, I got a trip to Dairy Queen.
You can’t bring playground battle tactics into the office though. You do that and you stand a good chance of being fired for insubordination. I’m not saying to just go with the flow regardless, but if you have the opportunity to ask for a raise, make your case, and they say “no,” you can’t decide you’re going to just raise hell until you get your way. Getting your way in the office does require some aggression, but it must be handled with a lot of tact.
