Good stuff. Just wanted to point out that from everyone I know that did an internship for Deloitte or my other national firm, 50k salary is on the lower end of the pay scale.
“High protein shakes are designed for people who are trying to gain weight.”
Actually, protein intake has very little to do with “weight” gain. It has everything to do with muscle gain (while in a caloric surplus) and muscle retention (while in a caloric deficiency, i.e. a “cutting” diet). Gaining weight, on the other hand, is merely eating more calories than you expend.
Also, your coworker was partially right. Studies do show that protein helps you feel full for longer, because your body takes longer to digest protein than it does carbs or fat. Notice that many of the most popular diets of the last 20 years are centered around being high-protein; this isn’t a coincidence. It’s because it works.
This isn’t to say that carbs or fat are bad, or that an all-protein diet is good. Just saying protein doesn’t deserve to be in an extremist camp with Crossfit and hardcore bodybuilding, as you imply.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it was a great episode. But I’ve sat through much worse from the likes of Mad Men.
And in response to your initial premise of “giving up on Walking Dead,” I am with you in that the series is definitely in a decline this season. However, I’m still holding out hope that the writers can find their stride again.
I guess I’m alone in thinking this was a decent episode. I mean, if you’re only there for the gore and the bigger story of what’s going on, then yeah, it was awful. On the other hand, there are some folks, like myself, who think that character development and fully-fleshing out a character’s back story are just as important.
But then again, I’m weird because I thought Game of Thrones season 1 was fairly well-paced and not slow at all.
Addendum to rule 8: there is a difference between grunting, and sounding a goddamn howler monkey. A low, slightly-audible grunt on your last rep is allowable. It’s hard to be 100% silent when you’re going heavy, like squats or deadlift. Now, if you’re screaming through your third set of ten on cable curls, on the other hand, you may kindly go to hell.
A Tex-Mex buffet that’s actually good would get so much of my paycheck.

Damn accurate list, Knox. Kind of scary, in fact.
Pretty good list as far as Texas goes. I lean towards Black Friar Pub and Renfield’s, though, for Uptown Dallas.
And with that I’ll step off my nutritional soap box and go back to making dick jokes.

Good, Bolen. Let the hate flow through you.

Shows a picture of liquor, only talks about cheap to mid-level wine.
Does anyone blame me for expecting at least a mention of actual liquor preferences?
I mean, I could write an article about how I made 25 an hour on my internship, and generally had fun, but then everyone like the author would hate me.
Nah, I’ll just sit back and listen to people bitch.

Good article. Keep up the good work, 5-O.
Amen. It’s impossible for Garth to be ruined for me.
I’ve always been partial to “dipshit,” myself, but solid list.
I get paid a fair salary, and I enjoy what I do on occasion. Eff me, right?
I’ll allow it.
Just wanted everyone here to know that this is a thing.

Yep. Somebody get that man a beer.
I’d ease off putting down Country Christmas music as a whole. “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” is gold.
