When you’re full and you don’t think you can eat anymore, a fresh homemade pumpkin pie can make you dig deep and win one for the gipper. Pumpkin pie, like the DB, anchors Thanksgiving.
Pumpkin spiced things get a bad rap. People have beat pumpkin spice to death, given it the hung, drawn and quartering that would make William Wallace impressed, then tied it to a truck and dragged it across the country. Pumpkin pie was always my favorite pie and on more than one occasion, I’ve eaten an entire pie on Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie kicks sweet potato pie’s ass.

Comparing it to all other foods on Thanksgiving. There is no Thanksgiving without turkey but give me stuffing and mashed potatoes in the 1 and 2 spot.

I’ve always been partial to a salted ham rather than a glazed ham, family tradition. But if you don’t know you need to soak a salted ham before cooking it… it can go oh so wrong.

Sorry, turkey is a mediocre meal at best. I’ve always said, if an entire holiday is centered on a meal, they shoulda picked a better one like a pork shoulder or ribeyes or a good lasagna or something.
You should invent a time machine and tell the pilgrims.
Not sure if I’m the only one, but my family always has baked ziti or lasagna to go with the traditional Thanksgiving meals. Might be weird, but I love having it.
