Fuck calling weddings gift grabs. They are fucking expensive and no amount of gifts can offset even part of that. Plus thank you cards make it almost not even worth receiving a gift at all.
Having 300K in your bank account in 18 years sounds great, but who is going to actually save that much if they have that much extra cash? Living life on a budget (including preparation for a kid and paying wife’s student loans) has shown just how much a dollar can stretch if you plan out how all your money will be divided beforehand.
It doesn’t seem like you’d let that much money slip through your hands without realizing it, but it happens.
