Not that I have a preference either way but my grandma had my mom at 20 and then my mom had me 20 years after that. We (the 3 of us) have the best relationship imaginable. My mom is 47, no loans, limited bills, 3 grandkids & one on the way (mostly my brother’s) and has the financial stability to spoil those kids to death, sugar them up, then give them back. Also to travel & do whatever she wants now that she has the means & time to.
Get her something with your name on it (if she’s taking it) or something personalized for your honeymoon. My hubby did that for Xmas and it really stated to me how excited he was for our next chapter. Plus, it got him that autographed Barry Bonds ball he wanted on our wedding day.
Daycare is just one of the many expenses. Adding them on to your health, dental, vision insurance… diapers… clothes… food that they throw on the floor for the dog. It adds up quickly! 3k makes me want to cry. Maybe I’ll close up shop now before a #2 is possible.
I agree with pretty much everything you said but the cutting off of the bar is sometimes out of the bride and groom’s hands. Our venue made us shut down the bar solely for the dinner portion so they could get an accurate head count at dinner (they want to make sure they charge you for every single person that didn’t RSVP but came anyway) even though we served family style dinner. Annoying, yes, but not always their fault.
You can try and “space things out” as much as you want but you may wind up accidentally pregnant 6 months after you get married when you both agreed you wanted to wait on kids and travel while you’re able. Not that I know first-hand or anything.
Also, yes, definitely live together first. For a long, long time.
I can see your point but if you’re left unemployed at some point in your life, I’d rather have the debt paid ahead/off. (This happened to me 2 years ago but I was paid so far ahead that it didn’t matter I couldn’t make payments for a while). You can always contribute more to your retirement later on.

Came here to say this. Also, sometimes there’s nothing like a good rain run or running into the sunset. Treadmill running is awful.
