Considering $2 beer night at a hockey game and then parlaying that into a trip to the bars to black the fuck out. Haven’t done a hard reset in a while.
Reasons Des Moines sucks (from a resident):
-Lack of young people. Majority of those present are in relationships.
-Rent is not reasonable based on income unless you live in a dump in the burbs.
-Most bars suck. I go to the same 3 every week.
-There is literally 1 brunch place and the servers are assholes.
-No adult sports leagues. (This is probably more of a personal thing but come on)
-Downtown doesn’t plow the damn streets for ages. It took me 20 min to drive 2 miles to work today.
-It’s still Iowa and Iowa sucks.
I find Bravo TV shows work well. I’m not going full trash on housewives and shit but more real estate/lifestyle focused shows let you escape from your shitty reality.
I did a free week of yoga/barre classes a couple months back and was in exactly the same situation. I’m a pretty athletic dude but damn that shit was hard.
