If you come into the office with a black eye, everybody knows you got into a fight (dumbass) or are in a domestic abuse situation (I hope you can get help). There are few believable excuses.
15 days PTO plus 5 sick days isn’t the best (my brother and his wife work in the UK and get a month), but I’d rather have a set amount of daysI can take at leisure where I don’t have to feel guilty or worry about my career progression or getting fired. “Unlimited” vacation days are more likely “indeterminate” and not often approved.
My ladyfriend is from Cleveland and while her two brothers still live there and love it, she says it’s 100% because they have the townie mindset. At least it’s not Cincinnati or Columbus?
Did anybody else go to GABF this weekend? I went to the last session because we were in KC over the week and got back to town late, but it was pretty fun. I initially thought it would be a chore to get hammered 1 ounce taster at a time, but it was easily managed. Tried Sweetwater brew at the suggestion of some of you southerners and it was pretty great.
The style guide exists so you can compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges. Like, if I enter into the Robust Porter category a very nice Hefeweizen I brewed, and it’s all-around a better beer than the porters that were entered, I still shouldn’t win the best “Robust Porter” because it’s not a porter. That’s a more pronounced example but the same idea.
Agreed. I wrote a speech ahead of time, had a handful of drinks on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party while cruising to take post-wedding ceremony pictures, and decided the speech sucked. I winged it. Went fine. Admittedly, I was on the Ballmer’s Peak of toast speech drunkeness, it could have gone poorly if a few more shots were involved.
I had a job lined up at graduation with a big healthcare software company in KC, but that April I got a random offer fly out to interview in Denver with a relatively small software company I hadn’t heard of before. The day before the interview, the president took me around the bars and Coors Field for a game. Basically just drank beer all day and bullshitted about fraternity life. Guy extended a job offer the same day as the interview. The other company took weeks in the hiring process and I only ever talked to peons. Culture matters a lot if you want to be happy at your employer, especially when it comes to management.
Do you have to wear a suit? If it’s a place wear you suit up every single day, cool, but business casual needs to die. In tech there’s only a dress code if you’re at a government contractor and that’s about it. I’ve been growing this beard since the start of last ski season and I ain’t shaving anytime soon.
I started dabbling my first year of college, and it was a very funny experience when while home on break and walking by my parent’s door I smelled my stepmother smoking. We’ve both helped each other out when the supply was dry and its one of the few things we can agree on.
I started kegging a month or so ago and we’ve already killed a 5 gallon keg of Hefweizen and one of Dunkelweizen, and got 8% Graff (malt + apple) in there right now. Turning grain into drunk is such a fun hobby.
Looks like a good time, but these overgrown children should try cleaning up their fucking trash for once in their lives.
I’M NOT MOVING TO FUCKING DETROIT.
During Thrones season, I love Sunday night. Other than that, the quality HBO programming does not negate the Scaries.

Thanks, Obama!

What old people festivals lack in young women wearing pasties, they return in a lack of wookies.

Give affection to an ex and the most you’ll receive is crabs.
Cheap bastards.
Whelp, looked it up and I’m full of shit. Touché, sir.

I get your point, but “padres” means fathers, not parents, and it’s clear the person doesn’t have two dads.
