Haha hilarious! The same people who complain about how “busy” they are and have so much work to do, yet will spend hours of the work day walking around chatting with coworkers. Then they end up staying til 7pm then make snide remarks at you for “leaving early”.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on The Tribulations Of A Guy Whose Coworkers Simply Won't Shut Up

This sums up exactly why I hate working in an office everyday. Forcing small talk with annoying coworkers who I would never associate with otherwise is my definition of hell. I wear a headset all day, and they still come up and ask if Im on the phone, in hopes that they can tell me what their adorable little Jaiden or Aiden did yesterday.

Because of this, I am looking for work from home jobs so I dont have to deal with coworkers all day!

  • oilbust 7 years ago on I've Become A Cougar And I'm Not Going Back

I love the double standard here. When I’ve “dated” younger women, other women I know would criticize me and tell me they’re just a child, and I should go for women my own age. When women go for younger guys its applauded!

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Mailbag: Being Irresistible To The Opposite Sex, Best Man Duties, And Being Rejected In Bed

1st poster: dont beat yourself about it. It sounds like the guy has sexual intimacy issues, overly religious, a virgin, or all of the above. You likely dodged a bullet, no quality guy worth dating would have acted the way he had after getting intimate like that.

2nd poster: I agree with Dillon. I know its 2017 and all, but if Im dating a girl and she is having sexual relations with others, then I would not want to be intimate with her. Im sure women feel the same way about guys theyre dating having sex with others?

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Riding In The Front Seat Of An Uber — Normal Or Psychotic?

Awkward, and the perfect example why its best to sit in the back. Sometimes I am not in the mood to talk to the driver, sometimes I am. The same goes for the driver, sometimes he doesn’t want to be chatty cathy, sometimes he does. Sitting in the back eliminates all of the potential awkwardness of having to be forced into a convo with the driver.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Riding In The Front Seat Of An Uber — Normal Or Psychotic?

I drive for Uber part-time and have had this same convo with many people. Personally, I do not like when customers sit up front, other Uber drivers I’ve talked to feel the same way. Its kind of an invasion of privacy, and the driver is forced to talk to the passenger. I would say about 25% of customers will sit up front. Some uber drivers might be ok with this, but you’re going to piss off the majority who do not like it, and risk taking a blow to your uber rating.

Would you sit in the front seat of a taxi?

Unless of course you are a hot chick, then please sit up front.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Is Staying Late At The Office Really That Bad?

I try and leave the soul sucking office as quickly as possible right at 5pm. If I still have work to do after 5pm, I dont mind doing it from home. As a salaried employee you are not getting paid for anything over 8 hours, so you are essentially working for free by staying late in the office. No thanks!

  • oilbust 7 years ago on I've Had It – I'm Going Old School When It Comes To Dating

I was on every single app for like 2 years, never really had much luck. I was meeting the same kinds of girls, same first dates, same mini flings etc. Finally I decided to change the types of girls I was dating, I was more open to dating girls of other ethnicities and backgrounds than my usual type.

Once I did this my luck started to change. I met my last and current girlfriend on Tinder of all places. There’s some great girls/guys on the apps, but you have to broaden your horizon and your be open to other types.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Mailbag: At What Age To Live Alone, Considering Dropping Out Of College, And Other Real Life Shit

Dropout college guy, stay in school! You’re almost finished. However, no PE’s right out of college are making 200k a year, I can promise you that. Especially during this historic oil downturn. Most PE’s right out of school make around $100k give or take total comp, that should be more realistic for you (which is still really good for a recent grad).

My advice to you is lock down a summer internship with an Oil Operator ASAP, also keep the GPA at 3.8 or above (I believe internship recruitment for TTU starts in the coming weeks). Offers for Petroleum Engineers are extremely limited right now, so only the best of the best are getting internships and offers right out of school. The good thing is that once you graduate in 2 years, the oil market should have rebounded slightly so your job prospects should be much better then.

You don’t want to make 100k doing refinery work for the rest of your life when you could be making six figures+ as an engineer sitting in a cushy office all day. Also, engineers at the big oil companies are more likely to get promoted and progress through the ranks to the executive levels versus a non engineer.

I work in HR with a big oil company by the way.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Getting Out Of Debt: Self-Restraint

Im with paycheck on this one. Dave Ramsey suggests building up a 6 month emergency fund, after that she can start using all of the left over cash flow to pay down the debts. There is a lot that can happen in life: car accident, loss of job, medical emergency. Having an emergency fund that will cover these events is much better than having to use a credit card and get in more debt.

Also, the peace of mind that having an emergency fund brings is worth it to not always have to worry about what if.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on A Breakdown Of People's Food-Related Dating Deal Breakers

Unfortunately I have stomach issues that prevent me from eating a lot of delicious foods like: cheese (dairy in general), spicy foods, fried foods, raw fish (sushi), coffee, heavy seasoning or pepper. I basically cant eat anything lol. I’ve heard the “no cheese is a deal breaker” line from plenty of girls.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on This Week In Consulting: Don't Mess With My Routine

Ive always heard that flying for work frequently will make you hate traveling. I never thought that would happen to me until, of course, I started traveling for work.

I used to love the entire experience of flying: the airports, the drinks at the bar beforehand, the actual flight itself. Then I started traveling for work and all of that went out the window. Now everything is a nuisance: the early morning flights, the layovers, the cramped seating, delays. Everything! I just want to get from point a to point b as fast as possible now.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Getting Out Of Debt: Compound Interest

Bill, what if her company is matching 6-10% on the 401k? Thats a lot of “free money” in company match for her to miss out on. It will take her A LONG TIME to pay off this debt regardless if she contributes to the 401 or not. She might as well have something to show for it in savings when all is said and done.

Plus, someone with poor financial habits will not likely use the excess money saved from not contributing to the 401k, to pay down additional debt. Her contributing to the 401k will be a “forced savings” of sorts.

  • oilbust 7 years ago on Threesomes, Regretful Snapchats, And Breaking & Entering: These Are Worst Stories From The Weekend

In Houston, went out and watched the fight at a bar since there wasnt much rain at that time. Ended up getting stuck overnight at my cousins house due to massive flooding late night. I couldn’t make it back to my apartment since there were no Uber or taxis available. Ended up paying a random driver off craigslist to take me home the next day. It took 2 hours and almost got stuck in the high waters several times, but finally made it home.

The office is closed today so enjoying doing the work from home thing since this doesnt happen very often.
