  • mdmd 8 years ago on How Do You Make Friends With Girls?

I think it’s important to make the decision that you want to make friends since it seems like you’re pretty ambivalent now, which is putting you in the tough spot of wanting friends without wanting to make the effort to have friends. The initial stage of friendship is surprisingly hard work, especially if you’re trying to break into a group of girls who have been friends with each other for a while. You’re starting at the right place though–small talk isn’t fun, but once you find even just one person that you have something in common with or get along with well naturally and start to hang out more, I think you’ll get to the stage where you’ll feel more fully yourself/comfortable saying whatever you want both with that person and with the group in general. It also seems like you’re pretty athletic, so maybe joining a rec sports team (with or without your boyfriend) if you have time might give you something in common automatically.

(and if that doesn’t work, a dog is a great backup plan–just don’t name him Sperry)

If Duda managed to do okay, I think you’ll make it too.

Also, from a fellow Bostonian–good luck with the move. Hope you make it back someday

That sad feeling when you realize that you work more than 10-13 hours per day but make much less than Mr. Big Deal (and also even Mr. Guy who management doesn’t like). PGP.

Seriously though, thanks for an entertaining read–I’m looking forward to this series.

This definitely resonates–when I was growing up, my parents frequently said that how we choose to react to what happens is usually more important than what happens itself. Sounds like you’re doing a great job working on keeping your cool.

Other than the years dedicated to learning how to diagnose and help people with serious mental disorders, the main difference between you and psychiatrists is that psychiatrists actually care about people other than themselves.

First, congrats on graduation! Second, bold strategy from Chad–villains stay around for longer, but still have to be pretty self-confident to pull it off (not that he seems like he has a problem with that).

  • mdmd 9 years ago on A SWOT Analysis Of The 7 Careers With The Most Job Security

Med student here–my mentors have told me that the best feeling is when you save someone or make their life better. The downside is when you strikeout or get a curveball you’re not anticipating, there’s often not going to be another chance at bat to try to help that patient. Big opportunity but big cost when lives are on the line.

That’s what orthotics are for. The price ranges (from custom-made expensive ones to not as great but still okay less expensive ones), but they’re well worth it–slip them into any shoe, and they not only do wonders for plantar fasciitis but also will keep you living the boat shoe life.

Agreed, he even went out right after food poisoning just to see her, so no way that’s just a “lol” text level of commitment. Even though this isn’t the best idea, still rooting for you, Johnny
