Duda – I gotta say, you come across as really depressed with how you react to people making small talk about your lunch and just your outlook in general here. We’ve all been there, really hating our job/lack of social life/lack of purpose, but at some point you either need to start doing something to make your situation better, or you’ll just be trapped in that self loathing, angry state of mind forever.
1. Summer is my least busy time of the year. Hit me up and I’ll be in the lazy river before you can say pina colada.
2. Rocking a solid 18% body fat dad bod. In shape enough for people to know I work out, but not so in shape as to imply that’s all I do.
3. Is there beer? Eh, I’ll be fine.
4. I will ride anything that’s not the Geronimo at Hurricane Harbor in Dallas. That one scares me shitless ever since I heard someone died on it. 0/10 would not fuck with.
5. My capital R roommate and I have an extra bedroom in our apartment, and am a long time veteran of floating the river in San Marcos when we make it down there. I’ve been to Gruene Hall more times than I can count (literally, as I’ve been blackout there multiple times).
Titanfall 2 is damn underrated. Yeah you get merked by 12 year olds that have the time and reflexes to still play that, but GIANT ROBOTS WITH GUNS AND ROCKETS, man.
I’ve started doing this, and I think there’s an element that some days (like today) I’m running behind and don’t take as much time to cool down. Monday I was fine, but then again I took my sweet time getting to work and wore a golf polo, instead of rushing and wearing a dress shirt like today. Oh well, the office is cold as ice anyway, so sweats should stop any time now.
My impression of the Hike is that while its not on the same level as Postmortal, it’s a lot of the same style, with more of a fantasy vibe. The Hike is more interesting, but not as “good” IMO.
The Postmortal is one of my two favorite books I’ve read since graduating college, and it is really incredible that it’s Magary’s first full novel, and its just so well done and unique, right out of the gate. I recommend it to anyone that reads at all, to give it a whirl. Really engrossing, and an easy read for a beach/lake weekend.
The number one negative of morning workouts during the summer – I don’t stop sweating until around 30 minutes after I get in the office. Pit stain city, population: me. Thank God no one’s here today.
Fairhope, AL – lovely town on Mobile Bay, but I went for a run around 6:30 – 7 pm one day and thought I was going to faint about half a mile in. Roughly 95* and 90% humidity, every day from the middle of June through August.
So accurate. I’m in audit for an accounting firm, and dear Lord I got absolutely roasted last time I was out of town on a client and didn’t drink. For whatever reason, client-facing jobs just bring out the drunk in every dorky accountant I’ve ever met.
If you’re staying somewhere that isn’t the butthole of Alabama/Kansas, I’ve found that going for a run in a new city is a great way to stay on track with weight loss and see the city you’re in.
Kayak or paddle board somewhere. Rented some SUPs last weekend while I was in town for my birthday and highly recommend. Also, Irene’s for brunch, Red Ash for dinner were both on point.
I really need to meet one of you people that likes In N Out so much, because I really just don’t understand the love. The two or three times I’ve had it, its been barely above McD’s quality.

But what do I know, I’m just an auditor.

Props to you for being able to work. Once I hit the sauce, it’s shut down time for that part of my brain.

My best friend has the soft pack cooler, highly recommend.

RE: intramural sports – I’m on the sand volleyball train this summer. Very chill vibes, and there’s a bar at the courts where we play.
The username/comment synergy just not getting enough love here.

While I understand that Whataburger may not be your favorite, your tastebuds are goddamn defective if you think In and Out is better.
Duda – make this a part of the column. The Michy Mantle Athlete of the Week. I feel like this has legs.
This would not even surprise me. LSU folks will throw down
