Pretty much. The reason the drivers are so awful is being the local population doesn’t know how to handle it. I left Austin for 4 years to go to school and it was like traffic/construction doubled every time I came back.
Never lived there, but I heard first hand from a kid who’s from LA that the SMU area shits on LA in terms of how long it takes to go minuscule distances.
Houston traffic is WAY worse than Austin traffic — in my opinion.
Yes, I-35 is god awful. But, really, who needs to use 35 in their daily commute? Living on the East Side sucks and if you have to us 35 to go South, where you live probably sucks too. Mo-Pac is pretty fucked as well and the construction making the speed limit 55 is absolutely retarded. But, those are really the only parts that get super, super backed up. Kind of lumping Ben White and 360 into MoPac, by the way.
But Houston has bumper-to-bumper traffic EVERYWHERE. Downtown, Katy, Cypress, Sugar Land, West Side, Memorial. Everywhere you go is fucked, people drive way too fast, and everyone is an extreme asshole. It would take longer to drive from West Houston to East Houston than it would from San Marcos to Round Rock.
