I had a friend in high school who’s mom spent THOUSANDS of dollars flying him around to country to visit football programs. And by visit I don’t mean official visits as the school recruited him, I mean they just showed up to the school/facilities. He ended up playing for some D3 school in upstate New York and suffered from depression. His mom sure did love her Facebook post about her college athlete son
I’ve attempted to attend his giant tailgate/concert in Dallas three times, never made it into the show on all the tries. Makes SEC tailgating look like daycare
Great way to stop getting invited to these type of parties? Give them a $10 gift card to some subpar chain restaurant as a present. It’s great to watch their face as they pretend to be thankful
As someone that went to a private school with a successful football program, knowing that my parents/loans payed out almost $200,000 for my education and the scholarship athletes received that plus food/living allowance (for example, my school gave football players $150 a week to spend however they wanted)…I’m really tired of the “college athletes don’t get paid” arguments.
