Ryan Fitzpatrick Problems
Grandex Problems
Apparently Johnny’s gone as well? Thought it was just the TFM guys.
According to the Grandex site it’s everyone who is strictly content except Will and Jared?
But why?
The biggest cost a company like grandex has is payroll and office related overhead. Their sales primarily come from clothing/stuff first and advertising second (correct me if I’m wrong?). On TFM someone mentioned they were moving offices and people are being let go. Top line item moves. If there is a ready and willing stable of freelance writers, it’s difficult to justify salaries and all that come with an employee vs a contractor (looking at you HR dude). Grandex needed to have staffed writers its first few years to gain a following and get traction. It looks like they’ve grown to the point they can adjust their model and hopefully achieve the same results.
Either that or the movie was that upside down…
I think why wasn’t the right question. I’m just upset that writers that I enjoyed reading just got cut.
Just realized someone made this point earlier today. Maybe the writers will still send stuff in freelance? I’d imagine they may feel a little burned and might not though? I hope they still do. I liked reading their stuff
I’m sure it saves them plenty of money by paying freelance writers rather than full time staff writers. Especially since I imagine the majority of their revenue doesn’t come from the content they create.
So you’re hiring?
