Well, I have a horrible head cold and I have to work on President’s Day, so sufficed to say, my weekend was not fantastic. I can’t taste any food and my ears feel like they are about to explode. But even with that, I still probably had a better weekend than these people.
Passengers On This Transavia Airlines Flight
At this point, I think we can all agree that flying can be a generally unpleasant experience. We’ve all encountered someone rude, someone smelly, and someone gross. But passengers are a Transavia Airlines flight from Dubai to Amsterdam encountered a fellow traveler who was all three.
Two Dutchmen on the flight were sitting next to what has been described as a “flatulent passenger,” who they repeatedly asked to stop passing gas. When he refused and the flight crew refused to step in to address the issue, a fight broke out and the plane was diverted to Vienna Airport in Switzerland.
I can’t say that I wouldn’t start throwing fists if I were forced to sit next to a farting bandit for seven and half hours. [via Fox News]
Team USA
Week one of the 2018 Winter Olympics wasn’t a great one for Team USA, with only five gold medals, and nine medals overall.
Let’s break down some of the disappointments:
- Heather Bergsma, who owns the world record for the 1,500 meters speedskating race, finished eighth in the race. She also failed to medal in the 1,000 meters race — again finishing eighth.
- Figure skater Nathan Chen only finished fifth after landing five clean quadruple jumps
- Lindsey Vonn, a favorite in the Women’s Super-G race, finished in sixth place
- Ashley Caldwell, the favorite to place gold in Aerials skiing, failed to make the final round of the competition
- The USA Hockey Team was embarrassed by the Russian team 4-0
Here’s hoping week 2 looks a bit better. [via Daily Mail]
Passengers On This Cruise Ship
An entire family of 23 were removed from a cruise ship in Australia after they pretty much made it the cruise from hell for everyone else on the Carnival Legend.
In a statement, Carnival said police on Friday removed “a large family group who had been involved in disruptive acts aboard Carnival Legend. Our security team responded in several instances to extremely unruly behavior by these guests.”
Other passengers stated that the family caused problems all over the ship, including by the pool and in the nightclub. The other passengers added that the group was “looking for trouble from the minute they got on the ship” and that “They (members of the family group) were roaming the decks just looking to pick on any Aussie they could find.”
As for the fact that video shows security officers kicking passengers after they were down on the floor during a brawl in the nightclub, the statement continued:
“One particular altercation in the nightclub began when the group physically attacked other guests. The actions seen on the video by our security team are not in line with our Carnival values and policies.”
Carnival offered the other passengers a 25% discount off their next cruise for their trouble. Yeah, I’m sure that totally makes up for being trapped on a boat with a group of crazies. [via CNN]
Black Panther Movie Goers in Atlanta
Tons of moviegoers went to see Black Panther this weekend, making it the number one movie in the country. But if you happened to go see it at Atlanta’s Regal Atlantic Station, you may have been in for a surprise.
The theater mixed up the latest Marvel blockbuster with the last film in the Fifty Shades trilogy, giving viewers a little more than they bargained for, running the erotic film for about five minutes before the mistake was corrected. The mix-up produced some hilarious Twitter content:

Cincinnati Basketball
The number five Cincinnati Bearcats not only lost to number nineteen Wichita State on Sunday but also had their national longest home winning streak record broken in the 76-72 loss.
The 39-game home winning streak was snapped at BB&T Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky with double-digit performances by the Shockers’ Landry Shamet, Shaquille Morris, and Austin Reaves. The Bearcats, which were also on a 16 game win streak, came within four in the last few minutes, but simply couldn’t come up with the win.
The upset opens up the race for the American Athletic Conference championship with March Madness coming up in about a month. Thank God that’s just around the corner – I need something to watch now that football is over. [via Kansas.com] .
Honorable mention goes to Fergie. Girl ruined our national anthem.
That was borderline treasonous. My grandpapi didn’t fight the Nazis to AND LEBRON WINS THE TIP
Jesus, cruises are awful.
I hate losing to the Russians as much as the next guy, but our Men’s hockey team is a bunch of amateurs playing professionals, no shame. They’re lucky we had to leave TJ Sochi behind for some college kids and retirees
Don’t worry, our women kicked their women’s ass for you.
Our women did that themselves earlier in the tournament, as well! Good luck in the final!
Who needs medals when we have new Twitter celebrities like Adam Rippon or when we can fawn over the North Korean cheerleaders and Fat Boy’s sister?

This is the first generation of Olympians who competed exclusively in the “everyone gets a trophy” little leagues
True. Also, an Olympic gold medal is only worth about $577, but think of all the sponsor money you can get as a result of your newfound Twitter fame.
“You don’t want to catch these hands”
“You don’t want to catch these farts”
Vienna is in Austria, not Switzerland FYI
Came to the comments to make sure this was brought up.
Consistently got too drunk and blew $1500 at week 1 of the Olympics. Currently hate myself.
And now I’m stranded in DFW because after a 13 your flight from Incheon the fucking storm closed down every Midwest flight out of here.
