This may be the douchiest thing I’ve said on this site but I absolutely disagree with you. If you aren’t getting opportunities where you are, make a change to where you will find them. There is nothing more I hate than people making the excuse “I wasn’t given an opportunity” because expecting things to be handed to you is absolute bullshit. Maybe the problem is that your potential is limited to what is given to you? I worked in a cubicle for two months right out of college and hated every second of it. It was a slow, unfulfilled climb through the company and industry, so I went out and created an opportunity for myself in a different industry and love my job 90% of the time. I don’t feel badly for people who aren’t given opportunities because I’ve had to create them my entire life. Go do something for yourself.
