Look, I know where you’re coming from and I said the same thing when I lived in the Midwest because it does get hot up there, but you haven’t experienced true heat until you’ve spent a summer in the south. When you have 100+ days in a single summer where the temperature breaks 100, let me know.
I made the same transition but I don’t think that the target audience is quite as narrow for this site as it is for TFM, and I can appreciate that. The fact of the matter is that this country does need an overhaul of it’s higher education system. Paying for an education these days is comparable to buying a house in amount of money invested. I don’t think the UK necessarily has a better system, but ours isn’t perfect.
Point is, I’ve noticed that PGP is not just TFM for adults. If you’re looking for bombastic and over the top conservatism, go back to TFM. Acknowledging the fact that there are problems with our system doesn’t make you bleeding-heart, or even a liberal for that matter.
The Newsroom is absolutely outstanding. Without a doubt one of the best shows of the past 3-4 years. Jeff Daniels’ speech that opens up the first episode is absolutely incredible and it just gets better from there. My view of him was completely changed after watching that show.
The way I see it, these are like monthly goals at a new job. Initially you’ll be held accountable for only some of them, with the percentage ramping up gradually until you hit 25. If you’re still getting DUIs and being a dick to service industry workers at 23 you probably need to reevaluate your life. Working a job you hate on the other hand, probably passable.
Maybe I’m just not getting the satire but Father’s day is kind of a big deal… I’m on board with everything else but you’re telling me you seriously didn’t know that was a thing?
I wholeheartedly disagree with this article. I can’t count the amount of great nights that I’ve had out with friends when I’ve been dragged (sometimes forcibly) from Netflix and my couch out to partake in whatever my friends had planned. Hell, this past weekend I almost missed seeing Springsteen play for free because I had had a rough Saturday and felt like sleeping off my hangover. When you’re older, you won’t remember the weekend nights you spent at home by yourself curled up with a Netflix account and a nice beer. Maybe not every night you spend out with friends will be one for the books, but you’ll probably have more fun doing that than hanging out at home.
I love the show, but I agree with you on most of your points. As much as I disagree with the laugh track and think Ted is a little bitch, the pros outweigh the cons for me. HIMYM remains one of the only shows I can go back and watch over and over again at almost any point in its existence. Episodes like Ducky Tie, Slapsgiving, and The Pineapple Incident are outstanding, and the writing on the show is top notch.

You’re a monster.

Wait Chevy Chase is an asshole? Damnit I was having such a good week too…
Wait people actually get the slaw at Cane’s? What is this, amateur hour? It’s extra toast or extra sauce or nothing.
Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was a masterpiece, with a few exceptions everything else is good but not incredible.

This is solid.
13 sounds like something I’d do when I was 19.
