I work with taxes; also dead inside. Can't turn down a casual 6-pack before a work function

The majority of those super rich people pay capital gains @ 20%, us commonfolk get the 15% bracket. Doesn’t seem like a big difference but let me tell you, people get pissed when they have to pay $3M on a large real estate transaction in the 20% bracket, when it could have been less. Obviously. A lot of those guys set up companies that can essentially run themselves, and take a salary from one specific holding company and at year end take a big bonus that goes 100% to the IRS through withholdings.

Mmm..busy season. My firm has instituted flexible scheduling this year… Should be an interesting season, that’s for sure. Since this switch I stroll in no earlier than 9 (but mostly closer to 9:45), and I love it. Hopefully it’ll keep up for the next few months

Thanksgiving is the best holiday of the year, but I may have a slight bias. For those of us who are lucky enough to have our birthday in late November, we sometimes have our birthday fall on this glorious day. Now let me ask this…what’s better than a day full of gluttonous carb-o-loading, football, AND presents? I’ll tell you…Nothing.

    Long Live Thanksgiving

Most of their lawsuits are because of their Employee/Independent Contactor misclassification. Current and former drivers are suing the companies saying they’re actually employees that have rights to certain benefits that they aren’t getting under the IC classification. Because they’re classified as such, Uber can charge less for rides because they don’t have higher overhead associated with having employees
