Most of the chatter is from 2015 about a few people all of whom had been reimbursed and since then they have greatly improved their security. How much do people keep in their venmo? If your bank account is drained via a hack that came from venmo its the same as your account being hacked outright. The venmo balance is for sure gone but the bank will reimburse your losses after doing their due diligence. Your response is ill informed.
#1- Pay for the night. It is easily worth the capital built buying some food/drinks for one night for a good impression on both the gf and the friend. Like others said shell likely pick up a few drinks anyway. If not, no big deal.
#4- do all the things you noted but look for a an advisor you trust. Keep some capital ~10k to invest on your own in some names you know. High flying tech names have pulled back recently. Maybe start there
