Been swamped at work this week (PGP may be dying, but real post grad problems never die) so I haven’t had a chance to comment on this yet. Sucks to see this community go, PGP has been a staple in my daily work browsing repertoire. The articles and comments have been amazing and I’ve learned a lot about life and myself as a result of reading and commenting here. Best of luck to everyone.

“Basically what I’m saying is that if you’re not Alabama, don’t tout your fifth place finish in the SEC as a reason for why your team is good.”

I hate the SEC circle jerk. A response from a SEC homer to that statement would be that a fifth place team in the SEC would be in first place in any other conference. Right, because playing The Citadel in November really shows how tough your team is. Try venturing somewhere north of the Mason-Dixon Line to play and see what happens. I can’t believe that we had a conversation about including a two-loss Georgia that didn’t even win its conference simply because they lost by a close game to Bama. Literally the definition of a participation trophy.

With two of the greatest sports weekends of the year (NFL wild card and NFL divisional weekends) and the best Sunday of the year for sports (conference championship Sunday is better than the Super bowl. Don’t @ me.), I don’t understand how people can stay dry in January.

If Alyssa had eyes like the ones in the stock photo, Eric would squeal like a pig to her about his escapades with another woman. Can’t lie to those eyes.

The latter part of my comment where I say “As for volunteering, should they not help out poor kids from the ghetto at all then? Or can you not help poor kids in the ghetto if you’re well-off and white?” addresses that part. bhtigers said that rich, white women volunteering in the ghetto rubs her the wrong way so I was curious if it was better that these rich-white women shouldn’t help the kids in the ghetto at all or if they were disqualified from doing so because they were white and rich.

From what I’ve heard about it, it sounds like a post-college sorority, but I think it’s disingenuous to accuse them of racism based on including pictures when you have no proof of them doing this. But again, since it’s chapter-based, I would imagine every chapter is run differently and things vary from one location to another.

As for volunteering, should they not help out poor kids from the ghetto at all then? Or can you not help poor kids in the ghetto if you’re well-off and white?

We had about 20 people over. People drank, but no one got hammered, no one did anything stupid and everyone had a great time. Went to bed at 3 AM and woke up at 10 AM feeling refreshed and without a hangover. Is this what partying responsibly feels like?

Do you take time off during the holidays? One thing that always helps me is not working during the week between Christmas and New Years. My old company was actually closed during this time span, while my current one is open, but no one is really here so everyone takes PTO. It’s a big help in being able to enjoy the holidays. Plus, I know that I’ll have three months of 60+ hour weeks once the holidays end, so it’s an extra motivator take the time off and enjoy the time with my friends and family because I won’t be seeing much of them for some time.
