Politics aside, I’m surprised the guy ever thought he was gonna win. The numbers were never on his side. Like the man himself said pretty much everyone who votes has already made up their mind before the election. Predicting the outcome isn’t rocket science.

15 Hour workdays for 24k is run of the mill for people starting out in any type of political campaign work. That is assuming you get paid at all.
