PSA: those tiny windows on the emergency door are so if the plane crashes, you can see outside and know which way is up. Also, so emergency responders can see into the plane before they start trying to enter.
I rented a car in Melbourne (and other parts of Australia) and you get used to driving on the left very quickly. You do have to pay a little more attention than usual though. And while I saw plenty of kangaroos, none came near the road, so I really think your chances of hitting one are being overblown. But it would be unfortunate.
