For what it’s worth, while these goals are incredibly lofty (especially when you live in, say, NYC) it’s worth noting he mentions the “savings” can include debt repayment, 401k contributions, and employer match. For me at least, student loans and 5% to 401k even before matching employer matching is more than 25% gross. Don’t disagree with the overall sentiment, but it’s important to consider the whole picture. For reference, my rent is over 40% gross income.
