Rub your eyes. Kiss your screen. Bow before me. Do whatever you need to do. This is not a drill. I have returned from the ether, to my Valhalla. I now give myself back to you, the people.
I left somewhat abruptly nearly two years ago, I will spare you the details and the hows and whys of what went down, but this I know for sure, there was an empty space in my heart and soul ever since. I will also spare you the details of what went down in my personal life since then, none of which is anyone’s business but my own. So, consider that 800-pound gorilla shot dead. (Pretty pissed I missed out on all the Harambe jokes before that horse was fucked to death by the internet, you guys. That content wrote itself.)
Throughout my hiatus, I can’t even begin to tell you how much I appreciated the outpouring of support from readers. It was honestly overwhelming at times. Whether it was through endless emails, tweets, comments on brianmcgannon dot com, saying what’s up out at the bars, or shouting “POWER MOVES ONLY!” from across the street in Westport last summer (top 5 moment in my life. Thank you, stranger), it truly touched me that so many people still cared after all that time.
No matter what I did, there was an overwhelming sense of unfinished business in my life. Meat on the bone. Food on the table. Ran out of ranch with two slices left. Life is too short to hold grudges. Fortunately, the powers that be thought the same. So, here we are.
Back when I was head/co-honcho at PGP, I had a vision for the site. One of my biggest regrets was never being able to see that vision through. I owe it to you to manifest that vision into a reality. A bright, shining vision, emerging from a misty, lush treeline on a majestic, uncastrated colt ready to mount the internet and pump it full of hot content.
Will and Dave will still be at the helm. They’ve done a great job growing PGP and I am happy to join them. The timing feels right. I’m not returning on a full-time basis, but I will still be writing for PGP as often as I can. As for what the future holds, I don’t know. I’m just happy to be back right now.

Yeah I actually don’t care why he left really, I was more wondering why all the recent hires back to the site? Not a big deal just genuinely curious, obviously great news for both the writers and company.
Duda still blogs (and has a straight gig), so I asked him if he’d want to blog for us as a paid remote. He said yes. The Chase continues. Brian and I have texted a bit in the last few weeks. I like Brian, and he’s a great writer. So we made it happen. Dan? He’s the ultimate story of persistence. And Gold’s Gym called begging us to hire him back.
“Listen, Dave, he’s been repping out the lat-pulldown for like 3 weeks and hasn’t stopped crying. Can you guys find him something to do?”
