The lead sportscaster with ABC’s Dallas-Fort Worth affiliate is back with more piping hot NFL takes. Dale Hansen previously blew up the world wide web with his heartfelt Michael Sam take, then he called out local high school fans for holding up “White Power” signs at a basketball game, and now he’s back to shred the Dallas Cowboys, the Jones family, and head coach Jason Garrett for signing embattled defensive end, Greg Hardy.

Hardy, who appealed his conviction of assault and communicating threats, ultimately had the charges dropped after the alleged victim, Hardy’s girlfriend, did not appear in court to testify. Here’s Hansen’s response to fans that think all that matters is what happens on the field:

“Is there no line you won’t cross? Is there no crime you won’t accept? Is there no behavior you will not tolerate?”

Damn.

I really hate Dale Hansen, he’s always seemed like a complete and total prick. However, he does make some fair points. Harsh, but fair. As a Cowboys fan, I’m really conflicted on the Hardy deal. On the field, sure, it’ll probably turn out okay, but as a person, I can’t wholeheartedly condone the signing.

I pay money to watch them play, not be good role models. These were the dumbest kids in school, the ones who beat up the nerds and skated by in class. Why do we expect them once they start in the league to be the best people that have ever graced the earth? They are modern day circus clowns, that’s it.

And if they were paid like circus clowns, then your point would be valid. The fact is they get paid exorbitant sums to play a game, and they SHOULD be held to a higher standard.

@clay Why? They get paid to beat the crap out of each other and provide entertainment. You’re basically saying every wealthy person should be a role model, that’s stupid.

Expecting professional athletes to be role models is exactly why society today is so fucked. Would any of us be able to pull the stunts these guys pull off the field and still have jobs? Hell no, but the fact remains Cowboys fans will still pay to see the team play and as long as the stadium is still full, they will sign anybody and everybody. This is a business, nothing more, nothing less.
