If you can, go into the office on Sunday when you get back. It sucks to go in on the weekend, but it beats having to deal with a shit storm on a Monday morning.
That is an absolute psycho move. Scaries are at an all-time high after a vacation. Why make them worse by checking emails on a Sunday. They can wait.
