Anybody else watch my Bobcats lose a close one last night over on ESPN U? Anybody? I tuned in for portions of it, but admittedly, I was much more interested in Giants-Eagles (puke) and Tech-TCU. Texas Tech took home the shittily named “Saddle Trophy,” which needs to be immediately replaced by something a bit closer to reality like a drill bit or a pair of white-washed wranglers. Let’s just call it the Landman Bowl. Anyway, I fired off what I thought would be a decent and harmless tweet of a couple Tech dudes in the stands:

For the record, these guys look like every dude I know who went to Tech. Hilariously, though, the guy in the visor is a follower of our content.
What a truly small world.
Now for the best of the week.
Ranking Fictional Bands By Best Potential Concert
This is a great concept. I’m seeing A Star Is Born this weekend which is already being touted as a top 5 achievement for human kind of all time. I’ll report back next week.
Here’s one from a new-ish blogger on the site. I enjoyed the way he tackled the issue of old man dong in the locker room.
At What Age Do Men Decide To Walk Around Naked In the Locker Room?
Now for my bummer of the week: I was supposed to play 18 with my coworker, T-Man, but he injured his shoulder lifting weights. He canceled the tee time. Due to uncooperative weather, I haven’t played in a month, so I may just go out there and bang some balls tomorrow.
We also released some new Touching Base inspired shirts this week that are absolutely flying off of the shelves:
Deal Closers Only
Team Bloody
Team Mimo
Thus far, Mimo is the clear favorite. I boldly proclaimed that the bloody mary is the bottle service of breakfast drinks. Maybe that was a misfire? Either way, I stand by my statement. Have a fantastic weekend..
Texas-centric content on the pods is starting to kill my interest. Hearing about restaurants I’ve never been to/will probably never go to, events I’ll never attend, teams I really don’t care about, and opinions on cities I don’t visit is wearing on me. I get it, you live there and a large portion of your audience is in or near the state, but it’s getting old. Not sure if I’m an outlier here on not, just wanted to bring it up.
No not an outlier.
More Dave and Micah.
Less Will and Dillon.
Id be interested to see some segments from other parts of the country. Itd be interesting to see how theyd tackle it
I know I mentioned something similar a while back as well. I’m a huge fan of everything Grandex podcasts, but I really think it’s time to make a move. The content itself really hasn’t changed a whole lot since the inception of Grandex podcasts, and the new additions are great. However it seems as though the creativity has had more of a drowning effect, forcing listeners to tune-in to multiple podcasts that they may or may not have the time to do. I regularly *try* to keep up with TB, RBP, Dadgum, Sunday Scaries, etc. but i wonder how much content is lost because people don’t have ~9-10 hours a week to consume it all. I’m from Indiana, and the coolest week of content from PGP/TB was their Chicago trip because it was the closest I could relate to it. Yes, they’re three funny guys and I genuinely enjoy a laid-back podcast that is centered on bullshitting, and discussing marginally universal current events, but there is room to grow. Bring in guests from other parts of the country. Travel and have meet-ups like Chicago (I know this is easier said than done) but it feels like the scope of audience is much wider-ranging than the content provided appeals to.
Why didn’t Dave and Will record a pre/post-game podcast with Dave’s buddy and a healthy beer-buzz while they were in Dallas? We get inundated with ACL content, but there’s never been a live podcast from there to give those of us who will never go ourselves a different insight than a recap a day or two later. There still hasn’t been a “couples” episode from Matt’s El Rancho which would be ELECTRIC and would give the audience a totally different perspective on the hosts we love. I know these are just a few ideas, and some carry more logistical difficulties than others, but they have to be doable to some extent.
This is officially a novel, I apologize. #sports
I live in Austin and have noticed for a while how Austin-centric the pods have been. Can definitely see how it would turn some people off. With that said, I hope this continues!
Yeah I agree. Not going to digress too much but I used to listen to TBP every week and now I haven’t in months. Just has gotten bland and boring with unrelatable or insufferable takes/”bits.”
I’d like to go on the record as saying that the Screwdriver is the forgotten breakfast drink and undeservedly so. It superbly combines the refreshing taste of vitamin-packed OJ with a robust, clear liquor needed to get your rear in gear for the day. Ergo, bring back the ‘driver into your weekend drink spread tomorrow morning, folks. Just think about it.
This guy gets it.
Screwdriver is just a mimo for drinkers. Like me. And you.
I would like to ammend my statement with, “if you really need to get it moving, start the day off with a RBV, Sugar free of course”
My man.
Hell yea
I’m greatly enjoying the food debates on the podcasts. I’ve heard enough to where I can break down your food choices/arguments like this:
All of you: Love Matt’s El Rancho and other Tex-Mex. Love alcohol.
Dave: A classic Texan. Loves steak and smoking dem meats. Generally hates most Northern food that Will likes.
Will: A classic northerner, loves carb-heavy breakfasts and foods (bagels) that don’t really provide much nutrition or protein, so no gainz in sight. Loves ciders. Generally hates things that Dave and Dillon like. The group usually considers his food takes as “trash” (hates warm pie due to the warm fruit but loves cobbler? Cobbler IS warm pie with warm fruit, my dude).
Dillon: The healthiest eater of the group (Dave is a close second). HATES sugar but compensates by drinking tons of red wine. Loves bananas. Loves avocados so much that he had to cut back.
Micah: Views all food as either “TRASH” or “Del-icious”. There is no middle ground. Micah is an “all-or-nothing” guy when it comes to grub. A true “tah-co”/Mexican connoisseur. Drinks weak cocktails on the reg.
Ross: Loves marijuana
Dan: Eats whatever produces the most gainz
Micah is the banana lover of the crew.
Good point, i forgot about how early on he would be eating one during every podcast and routinely get called out for it
Touching Base talking about food preferences every episode gets so old.
Also, while WilI makes fun of Dillon for calling him a “stupid dick” all time, I’m surprised Will doesn’t get any shit for saying “Yeh” and “Naw” 100 times per Touching Base podcast like a mentally challenged donkey.
Stay golden, ponyboy
Actually surprised you even listen based on how much you hate me.
Maybe just stay in your lane, ponyboy.
More Madoff, please. Just inject his writing straight into my veins.
Free basing Madoff, I like it.
You do know the reason you don’t see that much Madoff is because he hasn’t been writing that much, right? The man is busy and it’s not in PGP’s control
What if he is writing that much and they just choose not to publish them all…?
Aye Cube, I think I’ve figured you out. You live in Minnesota, right? Typical small fish in a big pond that thinks he’s smarter/better than he actually is because his frame of reference is shit. Enjoy the life of mediocrity my man
Minnesota is a big pond now? Nice.
Yeah he definitely got that one backwards lol
I’m going to get down voted to hell but maybe a little less Katie? It’s just a little bland. The cats article I couldn’t even finish.
I don’t disagree with you. I need to work on quality over quantity – thank you for the reminder.
idk i gotta disagree with you. her ninja and single advice ones were top tier. every writer on this site has some boring work but she has a lot of good stuff.
“I’m gonna get downvoted” is a sure fire way not to get downvoted.
Yet, she remains on top of the leaderboard
Wut?
Duda CRUSHED this week.
For Will, I’d like to see more of Girl’s wedding planning in TGDAG. I’d like to see what a shitty human being is like in a situation that brings out the worst in people
seconded
Would like to see Dorn write an article on who he thinks would win in a fight between Will and Jonah Hill and why. Assuming they were both equally mad enough to really throw hands, and nobody from Jonah Hill’s camp would intervene. Also assuming it was spur of the moment and Jonah couldn’t use his time and money to train.
Jonah because he has more heart
Mimosas > Bloodys and it’s not even close
Reboot dick’s picks, you sons of bitches
