There’s no better way to spend a Sunday night than sitting on Twitter while hoping something goes completely wrong during an award show. The Golden Globes are essentially just the drunk Oscars with television mixed in, so you know some shit will eventually go down after the actors and actresses start taking down buckets of Moet.
These nominations are a precursor for the more-boring Oscars, so in all reality, they might actually mean more to you than the Oscars do.

Why do I feel like I’ve never heard of 90% of the movies that are up for awards at these shows? Do I live under a rock, not watch enough TV or am I not hipster enough?
Agree. I don’t see a ton of movies in theaters but I was surprised by how many I didn’t recognize.
I guess that’s what I get for seeing Keanu opening weekend though.
To be fair to both of you, 4 of the 10 movies up for best picture either came out within a month of this article or haven’t hit theaters yet (Lion, Manchester by the Sea, 20th Century Women, La La Land).
These aren’t hipster movies by any means. There are faaaar more artsy and pretentious films that hit theaters that don’t receive award season buzz.
But if you’re like Will and watching movies like Keanu, Fast and Furious, and Batman v Superman, or your TV shows are NCIS or Suits, well then no shit you’re not gonna see them come award season dude, those movies and films blow.
I will recommend to PGP audience go see “Hell or High Water” on this list, it stars Jeff Bridges (the dude himself) as a Texas Ranger tracking down two brothers (Chris Pine and Ben Foster) who are robbing from banks that are threatening to foreclose on their mom’s house.
Tl;dr You have bad taste in movies, go see He’ll or High Water.
These were all wide release movies. But, as anything goes with this site; haven’t heard of it = hipster.
Really hoping for Hacksaw Ridge to take some awards but it probably don’t because it was directed by Mel Gibson.
Hopefully Andrew Garfield can at least score Best Actor for his performance in it.
That movie was incredible. I can’t wait to see “Silence”, not just because I’m Jesus.
I’m seriously trying to figure out what scenes will safe enough for them to show for the Deadpool nominations, or if they will just use the TV commercials
Hoping I would get nominated for Sully, thought I crushed that role 🙁 better make some Robert Langdon movies to drown my sorrows
