The star hitter isn’t going to pitch most likely. And he certainly isn’t going to pitch, then field the ball, then tag the runner out. And even if he’s able to do that once, he can’t do that another 26 times.
And in the roughly 150 years of professional baseball, a player has only hit 4 home runs in a game 15 times. Two of those 15 times that player’s team still lost.
And MJ was at least double teamed most the time and would still score 50+ points.
Baseball is the ultimate team sport. To quote Bob Costas’s great line from Ken Burn’s Baseball: “Babe Ruth only got to bat once.” Then the rest of the lineup has to try and bring him around to score. In football, you can have Aaron Rodgers throw it everytime or Emmitt Smith run the ball every down. In basketball, Michael Jordan can take every shot. But your best hitter only gets about 4 chances a game and still needs the rest of the team to get a run.
Can someone who knows something about computers create this website so the link actually works? I would be curious to read more about the Topanga Birther Movement
If the Fed raises rates sooner than anticipated then there might be a slight pullback as people sell stocks so that they can buy higher-yielding bonds. But there have only been whispers of that happening and it wouldn’t be anything more than temporary setback. The market would still most likely return net positive for the year
I think we can all agree that Seinfeld’s “The Contest” is the greatest tv comedy episode of all time. But “Dinner Party” is the best Office episode of all time, followed by “Conflict Resolution”
I’m on the same thought. I’ll admit I was cynical at first and even commented abouted on this site. But seeing all the good it has done and seeing how little we’ve progressed with research and funds needed for ALS has changed my perspective of the challenge. I suport the cause now and support and commend those who have participated and passed the challenge along.
Phil Hartman’s situation is a little unique considering he was murdered instead of Od’ing or suicide, although his murderer killed herself shortly after. Nevertheless, great article Bri-guy, all these legends gone before their time
Me and my high school girlfriend went to go see Knocked Up together. I did not get laid that night, probably should have seen that coming.
