While yeah, it may be harmless, it’s also unoriginal and off-putting. Women who comment deserve more than a “sup?” Especially considering their comments are much more insightful than a lot of what is currently going down in the comment section.
The issue is larger than this one comment section. As someone who reads every single comment on this site because I care about the audience we’re trying to build, I can’t imagine any women feel comfortable when they read the comments.
This has nothing to do with people “looking to be offended.” It has everything to do with anonymous commenters thinking they can say whatever they want because their name isn’t attached to it. There are other ways to take out aggression than making sexist jokes and passes with no other intent than getting upvoted. I’m not political in any sense of the word but building a positive community on the site is important to me.
I want to be surprised that this is the top comment, but unfortunately, I’m not. The comment section is largely anonymous and largely sexist which sucks because often times columns are overshadowed by the comments.
When I’m proud of something I write, I cringe at the thought of casual readers reading the comment section full of sexist comments and “sups” because it reflects terribly on me and the site as a whole. I don’t condone the sexist shit anyone says in the comments but it looks like I do if I don’t respond to it.
Had a monstrous power lunch that’s leaving me without an appetite so going to pound a smoothie for dinner to get all the food groups in before I get hammered on melatonin gummies and wake up to touch some base.
I’m weird in that I more follow players and/or storylines. For example, cheered hard for Leicester last season because of their story. Cheering hard for Mourinho to do well at Man U with Pogba and Zlatan. Far and away watch Premier League more than any other league.
If there’s anything Dave and I like to do, it’s go to all-you-can-drink events on Sundays and live stream from them only to regret it on Monday morning.
I’ve never met anyone in person who I wouldn’t grab a beer with. It’s rare to even get approached, but it’s only been at bars and on golf courses so obviously we’re doing something right.
I work for a site called Post Grad Problems where a lot of the readership faces marriage, weddings, proposals, and other wedding-related things. Wedding content naturally does well because it’s hitting the perfect demographic.

Just be better, everyone.
Comment sections like this are reason enough to either stop writing TGDAG or just turn off the comment section on it moving forward.
Yeah, everyone knows the world started in year 0 exactly 2,017 years ago, right?
Stay out my mentions.
One of the greatest moves Apple ever made was allowing you to delete some of those completely cluttered stock apps.

Zero respect for people who don’t respect soccer.
Not believing that for a second.

Yeah, letting the comment section freely change their comments at will won’t end in flames at all.

I hate you.
