If you are going to a public driving range that has no course attached, then basketball shorts are fine. If it’s a halfway decent course with a practice range then you need to have the appropriate attire. That’s what i’ve always gone with.
Dorn… Try the Under Armour match play golf shorts. I’m 5′ 10 and they stay mostly above the knee. Also Vineyard Vines has golf shorts and i’m sure their inseams are not long.
Went to one last year in Myrtle Beach where golf was the main focus Thursday/ Friday, and the rest of the non-golfers came Friday afternoon. Lots of beautiful courses, trashy bars, and great strip clubs. Highly recommend.
Me and some buddies flew out to Phoenix last year for the Waste Management, got a few rounds in ourselves, then got a spot on 16 for Saturday. Needless to say, we are going back. If you get a chance to attend, you absolutely should.

Same here. I thought it was standard for $100-$150 depending on how close you are and to at least cover the cost of the meal.

They mentioned that they will be doing another normal one this week. Not sure if they plan on doing 2 episodes a week from now on or what though.
You can really get the best of both worlds on any barrier island beach town.
