Put your life savings into a down payment on an SVT Raptor, throw a Taurus 45 on the credit card, and see where the night takes you. How bad could it go?
You just didn’t stay in there long enough, unless he knows your shoes you’re golden. I’ve waited the janitor out in a handicapped stall for 20+ minutes.
You said: “Jethro and Bubba aren’t going to be nearly as responsible with an ‘assault rifle’ as they should be.”
If you meant ANY gun by “assault rifle” (although “assault weapon” is what they’re calling it these days), I agree. But you didn’t say that. What I’m saying is the responsibility factor for an “assault weapon” is no different than that of a non “assault weapon” because the definition is arbitrary.
Dude, basically every Cletus and Bubba under 40 that goes hunting has already had hunters safety. It’s a requirement in almost every state to get a license. I know idiots exactly like those Madoff is referring to and know for a fact they’ve had hunters safety, which doesn’t prevent them from doing dumb shit. I’m not advocating against classes, I’m just saying they don’t stop idiots from acting like idiots.
A driving test to operate a car doesn’t prevent negligent driving anymore than a gun safely course will prevent Cletus from shooting propane tanks. One either appreciates the responsibility involved or doesn’t.
I’ve taken hunters safety (grandfather taught it for decades), CCW, and some others, in addition to shooting some comps (carbine/pistol). My dad was a police officer and I did some shooting with SWAT when I was younger (Full Auto/Burst Fire MP5s, M4s, etc.). You can always leave a range, and I wouldn’t goto a range in the first place that tolerated that kind of idiocy, but they’re not out doing drivebys down the block with their AWs. Also, the guys out doing drivebys aren’t using AWs either, basically entirely handguns. Having been in the line of fire of a driveby (on the freeway no less) in DC, I’ll take Bubba and Cletus over the guys in the murdered out Chrysler 300 dumping lead into the Tahoe in the lane next to me.
Just to nitpick a great article… “I own seven guns, including three that would be considered “assault weapons,” but I don’t think every Jethro and Bubba should get one.”
If every Jethro and Bubba running around with “Assault Weapons” in their holler were the problem, they’d have been banned ages ago because the anti 2A folks would have an argument with a leg to stand on.
I held out for 6 years until a girl forced it upon me, turned out to be a pretty big money saver on dates.
I bet he watched Temps though.
Given what we know, he probably spends too much time in the bathroom to do much of anything.
We wouldn’t want to disappoint the doomsday preppers.
Only if she’s a vegan.
No craft beer marketers are precious. Got it.
Pretentious?
Not really, but I only remember seeing two types of people who drink low calorie beer: Lance Armstrong on TV and people in wife beaters.
This, last time I saw my father with a Miller 64 it was through two black eyes.
It’s 2 miles to soccer practice, we’ve got a full bag of orange slices, half a pack of Ecto Coolers, it’s dark… and we’re wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

Adults are too heavy to Simba out of a window.
The only celebrity passing that has touched me so far was Michael Jackson’s.

It’s a meaningless definition. “Assault weapons” are functionally and lethally no different than many other rifles.
