In my most successful relationship I ever had, I said I love you first and my boyfriend didn’t say it back- said he wasn’t ready. Lead to a big fight but eventually worked back to normal, and finally he was able to say it. He’d never said it to anybody before, and I imagine his inner dialogue and anxiety over it was similar to what yours was. Still fixable!!!
