As the 500th financial advisor in this post I agree with most. You don’t need life insurance until you are married or have kids. For disability most large companies offer enough coverage if a salesman says you need more he is lying. If your company has a good 401k put away as much as you can afford to and let it compound while it lowering your taxable income. If your 401k sucks put in the amount up to where the company matches then max out your IRA. If you have money left over that you might need you can always open up a taxable account just make sure you are tax efficient. If you are in California and need a new FA…. Sup.
We need a lot more to live on than we think now. Most of our generation isn’t saving enough. Largely because we have so much student debt and we buy homes later than most the housing prices are so inflated in most cities.
4% was normal when people died at 70 now it’s closer to 2.5 to be conservative 2. I’m a financial planner it’s the other post I know anything about haha.
