Jack of all trades, Master of... Science! Panama-born, Virginia-raised, and (hopefully) Connecticut-bound. She values live music, embraces her eidetic memory, and enjoys being told, "Don't work too hard." Still looking for that perfect job.
I had the same recruiter from the same company contact me 11 months apart for the same position. It was quite the trip down memory lane. We got into the exact same argument over “what she thought she read on my resume” and what was actually on my resume.
On Verizon? Yikes! I’ve seen the bill and it’s already atrocious. I found out, though, that paying for my own plan isn’t as much as I thought it would be. Just have to wait until the contract is up next May.
A dump truck and a pickup truck were involved in a head-on collision in the HOV lanes (they close at night for construction/paving) earlier that morning. 2 or 3 hospitalized and 1 fatality. By the time rush hour started, VSP and VDoT still had the HOV lanes closed for the accident investigation. Had I woken up sooner, I would have seen the traffic alert and taken the VRE to work.
Ahhh, understood! When you said “coffee pot,” I thought you meant the carafe. Is it one of those industrial-type coffeemakers or the ones used at home? Does the unit turn on at all? Use vinegar to descale it. If the water chamber isn’t emptying, force vinegar into the intake with a syringe. If it’s not turning on at all, take it apart and check for a bad ground. If all else fails, call the unit manufacturer and cry. Good luck!
My first summer job between college semesters was working in the meat, seafood, and deli department at the local big-box grocery store. It was 110F in the Virginia summer (without the humidity). I relished working in the freezers where they stored the ice cream and frozen meats as they were kept at a balmy -10F. Higher-ups never bothered us because they couldn’t handle more than 3 minutes of being cold. Best office I’ve worked in.
Pro-Tip: Head to Goodwill and scope the glassware rack. Guaranteed, there’ll be a spare carafe or two. Become the hero your office deserves, but not the one it needs.
To the folks who leave their K-cups behind, I like my tea to taste like tea, not something reminiscent of your Green Mountain Organic Fair-Trade Breakfast Blend.
Turn duvet cover inside out. Grasp top corners of duvet through cover. Pull duvet cover over corners, right-side in. Shake a few times. Done!
Gross.
It’s wonderful. Being able to shut the door as one pleases. Having control over the thermostat.
Does your phone allow you to swap out SIM cards?

Mine was getting Gold status in the Starbucks app.

Whole Foods?
Time for a 401K and an IRA (if you don’t already have those).

At least it’ll count towards your 10,000 steps.

I never turn down free chow.
