Back in college I earned a letter as the team videographer for the cheerleading squad. As an alumni member of the school letterwinners club, I received free tickets and an invite to walk on the field for a halftime ceremony at a non conference game last season.
Having never met her parents yet, I used this opportunity to invite them to brunch and the game and witness me walking on the field and waving to the crowd, no different than the actual former Big Ten athletes who I was with.
Met a number of NBA players around town in Minneapolis over the years.
1. First was seeing the Orlando Magic leave a hotel when I was in high school (talked to Mike Miller, we are both from SD).
2. My brother is a veteran so Nov. 2008 we went to a “Timberwolves Thanksgiving Meal for Veterans” where I totally DENIED Corey Brewer an autograph (sure he was probably told to ask us, but he is my age & I was following rule #2). Also, teenage rookie Kevin Love tried ordering a drink and got carded.
3. Saw CB again at Quiznos in summer 2011 ordering only 1 sandwich when he is 6’8 and less than 200 lbs.
4. Ran into Zach Lavine in SLP Costco last January and told him good luck…won the dunk contest a couple weeks later.
5. MM-ring with the Heat. CB-ring with the Mavs. ZL-dunk champ. Guess I’m good luck. Now if only that would rub off on Gopher sports…

Live in MN and ate Chipotle yesterday…sure hope I don’t miss out on Wednesday the BIGGEST BAR NIGHT OF THE YEAR
Look pretty and then ask “what are you up to later?”. The rest will take care of itself.
