The newly elected chairman of the Travis County GOP has a few opinions he’d like to share with you.
We don’t always cover politics here, but this was too absurd not to cover. Yesterday, Travis County voters, including those in the State’s Capital, Austin, elected Robert Morrow to chair the Republican Party in one of the State’s most liberal counties. Morrow, who says he supports the brand of Republican politics he most closely associates with Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz, celebrated by going scorched earth on pretty much everybody.

That only scratches the surface. If you peruse Morrow’s timeline, you’ll see that he has no problem dishing out hot political/social/human opinions at all times. A self-described “truth seeker,” Morrow somehow managed to obtain 54% of the vote, all while being one of the most prolific Twitter ranters of all time. As you can probably imagine, high-ranking members of the Party are less than enthused.
Per the Texas Tribune:
Morrow’s election as Republican chair of the fifth-largest county in Texas left several members of the Travis County GOP, including vice chair Matt Mackowiak, apoplectic. Mackowiak, a Republican strategist, immediately announced over social media that he would do everything in his power to remove Morrow from office.
Yeah, that’s probably the right move. Republicans have a hard enough time winning elections in Austin, and I’m not sure having a wildcard at the helm is going to help the cause.
When asked about potentially being ousted, Morrow again didn’t hold back. “I don’t even think Mackowiak is going to support the Republican nominee, who is probably going to be Trump,” Morrow said. “What kind of traitor to the party is Matt Mackowiak? The incredible amount of damage someone like him does to the party — and he’s a douchebag.” This should end well.
As for vice chair, Matt Mackowiak, he’s leaving all options on the table. “I’m treating this as a coup and as a hostile takeover.”
Morrow’s response? “Tell them they can go fuck themselves.” Awesome..
