Say hello to Ian Bearce. He commutes from Minneapolis to New York City…once a week. Sitting in traffic for 45 minutes looks pretty nice compared to this.
Ian is the head of content for Mill+, a design company. Here’s the header of his LinkedIn page:
Superman, indeed..

So, was this guy wearing a GoPro all day through the airport and at his office?
This isn’t that unusual. One executive in my company flies lives in Toronto but flies to Atlanta every week for work.
Agreed. I’m sure it sucks but as long as the company pays for travel, I’d do it.
I agree. If it is paid for and you’re flying, it could be worse. My girlfriends best friend commutes two hours one way to DC for work. She has to leave at 5am and doesnt get home until 9pm some nights. She does this 5 days a week. Now that BLOWS.
How has this girl not broken down yet?
Our Senior VP commutes from Detroit to Des Moines every week. On occasion Detroit to our Dallas office instead. That’s way worse… Because Detroit.
This is awesome, I envy that commute. What I would give for a job that travels.
You say that.
Traveling consultant jobs are cool for about two months. Unless the most important thing in your life is Starwood points and airline status, and you can converse with your coworkers about only those things…
When your job confines you to an 8 x 8 cubicle, its easy to say that from my vantage point.
Is it really a commute if it’s once a week? I fly more often than that and have never considered going to the airport “commuting”
Anybody that works in consulting does something like this. Fly/train out on Monday, go home Thursday.
