Valar morghulis. .
I assumed when they referred to the new red lady as the first follower it was about her rank in her faiths hierarchy and not her age.
The new Red Priestess scares the hell outta me. She’s the definition of a fear boner.
Dem eyes, though
The Sansa & Jon party/Petyr party is interesting. Sansa/Jon going to work unite the Northern houses and then face off with Ramsey when he leaves Winterfell and marches north to challenge them. Meanwhile, Petyr takes his army of Vale knights from Moat Cailin and takes a less defended Winterfell.
SPOILER THEORY…..
Bran is going to need to get to another Werewood Tree, closest one being on the other side of the wall possibly Winterfell. This reunites him with Jon and Sansa and makes it easier for Bran to tell Jon the story of how he was born (R+L=J), and since he and Sansa are noble, they can make Jon, “Jon Targaryen” much like how Roose did Ramsay.
Now… The wall has magic that keeps the white walkers out. However if Bran crosses the wall, then we might expect the same outcome as last night with the cave.
That wall is coming down all thanks to Bran.
Weirwoods/heart trees are quite common north of the wall. Back in season 1 we see Jon and Sam go north of the wall to one to take their Night’s Watch vows, so there are certainly weirwoods north of the wall. However, it’s almost certain Bran and Meera are going to go back across the wall and it makes sense the White Walkers would now be able to cross as well.
Also, Ramsay was made a Bolton by royal decree by Tommen. So that’s the only way to legitimize a bastard. In the books it’s alluded to that, before he died at the Red Wedding, Robb legitimized Jon as a Stark and named him as his heir. Makes sense because at the time Bran/Rickon were presumed dead at Winterfell and Sansa/Arya were captive (maybe dead) in King’s Landing. Problems arise with this theory because who knows that Jon was legitimized? Supposedly, it would be people like Roose and Lord Umber and maybe a few others of similar stature in the north.
The nights king did some sort of earth split when he first got to the cave. Do you think he’ll probably just bring the wall down with the same sort of magic? Or just throw his army horde into it?
Well, in the books it’s supposedly the Horn of Joramun that can bring the wall down. It’s a huge, ancient horn that when blown will bring the wall down according to legend. It’s actually referenced in the Night’s Watch oath, “I am…the horn that wakes the sleepers”, so it clearly means something in terms of the white walkers. Mance says he found it in the books and threatens to bring down the wall with it to let his people through, but Jon knows he wouldn’t since that would let the white walkers through too. I think there’s also a point where Tormund says they destroyed it but I’m not totally sure.
“I am the horn that wakes the sleepers”, is not referencing the horn that can take down the wall. That would essentially be saying “I am the thing that will destroy this wall” in the your life-time oath to defend that wall at all costs. No one even really believes that horn exists and neither of the important horns have been mentioned in the show. That quote is clearly a reference to something almost every Night’s Watch member has done for the last several hundred years. Which is literally standing watch, at night, and blowing a horn to alert everyone else that either rangers are returning (1 blast), wildlings (2), or walkers (3).
Jon saw what he assumed was the Horn in Mance’s tent when he went to treat with them after they attacked the wall, but Tormund or Val later admitted it wasn’t the real thing. If the Night King’s mark can get them through the wall he could just bust open the gates at Castle Black and let the wights charge through.
The double-loss of Hodor and Summer hit me harder than 10 Red Weddings.
Summer’s death seemed so pointless. He didn’t hold off a ton of wights or anything special, he just whiffed at one and then got stabbed. Really messed with me.
Summer is gone, Winter has come.
Summer was also his last real connection to his past/Stark name after being separated from Rickon. Maybe like Arya he needed to sever this connection to become something else.
We talked about that in the podcast, too. Totally agree.
Sorry, just come here for the comments. I can’t listen to this at work
Definitely a more saddening episode than The Rains of Castamere. That was more shocking. This shit made me sad.
You would be more negatively impacted by the loss of simple Jack with gigantism and a dumb ass wolf named Summer. Like them, you were also born to do one shitty thing really well.
You know nothing
I know that you never go full retard. Hodor went full retard.
I’m sorry you feel that way! Hope you have a great day, anyway!
So when is redbeard gonna bang Brienne? Talk about some terrifying sex.
Little late here but I just listened a few mins ago. I think the whole timeline was to show Bran that that past has already happened and there is nothing you can do. Now farther in the future you might be able to change things but some things just are what they are. Hodor became Hodor when Ned was Brans age so what happened the last episode absolutely had to happen. That was why the three eyed Raven took him to see it because everything that took place was destined to happen.
My money is on little finger somehow getting the iron throne. He’s too much of a smart cock-gobbler to not get it.
Causality loop. Yep, he’s not actually changing the past as it was all meant to be
FYI, the sea to the west of Westeros you guys were talking about is known as the Sunset sea.
Sunset Sea. Much appreciated.
For sure. Also, at the very end you guys were asking who is next in line if Tommen dies. Technically, after convoluted process, it would be Cersei (assuming Tommen didn’t put a baby in Margaery before she went to prison).
There is the theory that R and L were in fact married due to the fact that Targs practiced polygamy and that Jon is a legitimate heir without need of decree. Or Dany comes in and legitimizes him.
Technically, the Targaryens haven’t engaged in polygamy in about 250 years; since Maegor, who was the younger son of Aegon I (the guy who originally conquered Westoros w/his two sister wives). Not sure why Dany would legitimize Jon since that would mean he gets the throne ahead of her, but who knows. Weirder things have happened.
I thought the only true rule of succession was pretty clear by now. All that matters is who can back their claim with force, not who has the “better” claim. If you don’t believe that, see the Boltons, Lannister inbred bastards, Stannis’ dumb ass, Robert’s rebellion, Dorn, and Dani’s newly established rule across the narrow sea. If Danaerys has 3 dragons, the unsullied, and the entire Dothraki hoard, then legitimizing Jon would actually make a lot of strategic sense, assuming he has a decent army. Why? For several reasons. Adding a powerful, yet weaker ally to control the North and act as the first line of defense against the Walkers is a great start, especially since he is well suited for both. Extending the Targaryen blood line, which is pretty important considering a grand total of only two exist (according to the show) is another nice benefit. Also, if Jon does have Targaryen blood, then he has a decent shot of becoming a dragon rider. Since Dani has two extra dragons that aren’t doing shit, adding a dragon riding relative-ally that commands an army but has no desire to take the throne (and wouldn’t have the power to anyways) would be absolutely ideal. Dani would eventually need Jon, and his new dragon, to lead the fight against the Walkers as well. For Jon, the offer would be a no brainer. But who could negotiate such an alliance and act as a badly needed bridge of trust? Well, Dani’s new advisor Tyrion happens to have a previous relationship with Jon and Sansa was treated well by him in a difficult situation. Basically, if Jon really is Rhaegar’s son then their alliance is a foregone conclusion. Come on Ned, think a little outside the rigid rules that don’t exist in Throne’s reality.
I didn’t say that automatically will make Jon king just that it technically puts him ahead of her, but if you’ve been listening Dany has been saying “the throne is my birth right” for years. Legitimizing Jon technically makes that untrue. It’s not like he needs to have Targaryen as a last name to ride a dragon, just Targaryen blood. He doesn’t need the last name to be her defender of the north as you say, they just have to be allies. Literally the only thing the name matters for is the bloodline but why would Jon give a shit about that? He was raised a Stark, not a Targaryen.
