It’s been a rough week for Ashley Madison users.
The website, which facilitates affairs for people in relationships, was hacked a few weeks ago. The hackers promised to release all of AM’s user data if the website wasn’t shut down. It wasn’t, and the hackers followed through with their threat — releasing thousands of names a few days ago in a breach that will go down in history as one of the most hilarious debacles of all time. It’s already claimed one celebrity, Josh Duggar, and thousands of other cheating Americans are feverishly searching through the database — praying their information was somehow spared from this dumpster fire.
And then there are people like this guy, who made an account for fun six years ago, never used it, forgot about it, and had a reporter reach out to him yesterday after his information was disseminated in the breach. Oh, did I mention he is getting married in three weeks? He posted his story in Reddit’s “Today I Fucked Up” subreddit.
From Reddit:
6 years ago when I was in my early 20’s I was fresh out of a relationship and wanted to try online dating. POF and okcupid were the go-to places at the time. I saw an ad for Ashley Madison and thought I’d check it out.
As soon as I signed up I realized that it was a pay site and since I was a broke 20 something, I left it alone. I tried to delete it but I didn’t want to pay and since I had no activity on my account I didn’t think there would be much harm in just letting it go inactive and die. I would start to get spam emails so I would just unsubscibe and go about my day.
Fast forward 6 years, I’m engaged and my wedding is in 3 weeks. When I first heard about the hack I didn’t register what was happening, because in my mind I didn’t have an account and it was never active anyways. I got an email yesterday from a buzzfeed reporter asking me if he could ask me some questions because he pulled my email from the hack list. I was floored. I’ve talked to a class action lawyer that is going after AM for damages. To make matters worse I have to tell my future wife that I just got outed for being signed up to a infidelity website. My wedding is in three weeks!
That sucks. This poor guy just got completely fucked by Ashley Madison, and he didn’t even use his account. He contacted an attorney about filing a class action lawsuit against the website, and received the following response — which he used as proof to show he isn’t full of shit:
Grab your popcorn. These Ashley Madison stories are just going to keep getting better and better..

“C’mon honey, it could be ANY Josh Duggar”

I’m pretty sure it’s not going to get better than one of the Duggar’s.
