Patrick Reed took his career to the next level at the Ryder Cup. He’s easily the edgiest player on the team, if not the entire PGA Tour, but he backed it up by taking down the European beast that is Rory McIlroy.
I’m guessing we’ve all seen this 1000 times, but one more isn’t going to hurt anybody.
Electric is a word I’ve used too many times over the last few days to describe what went down at the Ryder Cup, but it’s the only way I can describe it. Unfortunately for Reed, a debilitating hangover experience from the President’s Cup prevented him from taking part in the booze fest that followed Team USA’s first Ryder Cup victory since 2008.
Here’s what he told Dan Patrick after being asked which team had the bigger bar tab:
I actually didn’t have anything to drink last night which was shocking…I made the mistake at the President’s Cup to, uh, you know have a good time with all the guys, and the next day, I could barely pack, I had a headache.

He’s not human. We’ve all been in that position where you can’t even pack because you might blow chunks, so you call the front desk for a late checkout. But approximately none of us have learned enough from it to just cut back on the drinking a bit. The fact that he couldn’t even make an exception for the Ryder Cup, an event that he absolutely dominated, says a lot about his mental toughness. At the same time, it’s a total psycho move, and I love it..

Was the Rory/Reed match any good?
