I’m just going to put this out there. I was stupid enough to stay up late watching the Patriots game, knowing that I had to get up even earlier than normal for an early morning meeting. So I’m not even going to try and be witty to kick this column off, because frankly, all I want to do is take a nap under my desk, George Costanza style. So let’s get to it, ok?
Oklahoma State Football
Anytime you lose after a last minute play, it’s got to suck. But when the play shouldn’t have happened at all? That’s got to hurt, and that’s exactly what happened to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The Cowboys were up by three over Central Michigan when Chippewas quarterback Cooper Rush threw a 51-yard pass to wide receiver Jesse Kroll, who then lateraled the ball to another wide receiver, Corey Willis, who took it in for a touchdown.
Pretty impressive, right? But after the CMU win, both the game’s referee and conference officials came out and said that, after Oklahoma State has intentionally grounded the ball, the game should have been over – meaning the play should have never happened. However, instead of ending the game, officials gave CMU a final play which is not within the NCAA’s rules.
Luckily for CMU – and unluckily for the Cowboys – despite the mistake, the outcome of the game will stand.

ESPN Fantasy Users
Someone (me) forgot that today was the first Sunday of football when she scheduled a brunch at her house. So given that I was running around cooking for a crowd, I didn’t have time to check my fantasy team on ESPN. Which was fine, since I apparently wouldn’t have been able to anyway.
Just as the 1:00 p.m. games started on Sunday afternoon, ESPN’s Fantasy Sports app went down, leaving lots of fanatical sports fans with no way of tracking their fantasy teams. Around 2pm, ESPN finally acknowledged the issues with a tweet:
They followed up around 4pm with a non-update update:
And finally, service was restored around 6:30pm.
Of course, those that couldn’t check their fantasy teams used their time wisely, trolling the hell our ESPN:
Well, at least everyone used the time wisely.

It’s bad enough that this golfer in Elizabethtown, Kentucky was either drunk enough or bad enough at golf that he totally misses the tee, but he’s also unlucky enough to have friends that will video the hack swing and post it for all of us to enjoy his complete and total lack of skill. Ah, I love the internet.

C.B. Dollaway
Now, I must admit that I don’t know a lot about the UFC. But my general understanding is that the people that participate in it are pretty tough. Which makes the cancellation of one of the fights scheduled for Saturday night all that much more bizarre.
C.B. Dollaway was supposed to make his light heavyweight debut against Francimar Barroso, but the bout had to be canceled after Dollaway injured his back on Friday night riding in an elevator.
Dollaway, who participated in “The Ultimate Fighter” TV series, was riding in an elevator at his hotel in Cleveland when it “malfunctioned,” injuring the 33-year-old and leaving him stuck with other fighters including Urijah Faber, Fabricio Werdum, Yancy Medeiros, and Brad Tavares after weigh-ins. Dollaway was the only one injured.
According to MMAFighting.com, the UFC released the following statement on Saturday:
UFC announced that CB Dollaway has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC 203 due to an injury he suffered last night as a result of an elevator accident at a hotel in Cleveland.
UFC officials have been in communication with hotel management, and the hotel is currently evaluating and investigating the issues surrounding the incident.
Mmmm, sounds more like someone got cold feet. Just sayin’.

Chandler Catanzaro
I may be tired today, but I did get to see my beloved Patriots win after Catanzaro missed a field goal late in the 4th quarter and failed to give Arizona the lead. NFL.com broke it down:
Arizona started its last-gasp attempt at a win with 3:38 on the clock and no timeouts to work with, thanks to some interesting strategy by Bruce Arians, who used his remaining timeouts on the Patriots’ game-winning possession. Arians’ bold move nearly paid off until Arizona faced a fourth-and-five from the Patriots’ 29 down two points with just over a minute to go and the clock running. Bill Belichick neglected to call his final timeout, which would have offered the Pats more time to score after a successful Arizona field goal, until kicker Chandler Catanzaro got set to take the game-winning kick with 41 seconds left. One might say that Belichick sacrificed 30 seconds for the potential to ice the rushed Cardinals kicker. One might also say that Belichick forgot to take the timeout and put his offense led by the young Garoppolo at a disadvantage. Either way, Catanzaro missed, the Hoodie smirked and the world turned.
So as crappy as I’m feeling this morning, I imagine Catanzaro is feeling a little bit worse..

I can relate. I played Russell Wilson and the Chiefs D and had Stafford and the Vikings D on the bench. Lost by 6 points.
After my OSU Cowboys getting bent over – I may have gone into a drinking binge that I’m still hungover from – damn my old body that can’t handle the physical abuse I put it through because of grieving. PGP

Shit man – I’m an OSU fan and have been grieving since the refs fucked us over, and I come here to take my mind of the loss and it’s the first thing I see. Well played 2NOTBrokeGirls, well played.
Refs looking worse than the ones back in 2012 during the lockout
The worst part was that game had an unusually low amount of bad calls. Normally there is 3 or 4 obviously bad calls, but this game didn’t have any, until the end.
Made a bet with a Patriots fan that if the Cards lost I would have to wear a Brady jersey to the bar every Sunday for the rest of the season. That kick crushed me.
Anyone who thinks Belichick “forgot” to call a time out is living in bananaland. Remember when we were all screaming at our TVs to call a time out two years ago? Yeah, Russell tried to pass the ball form the 1 yard line.
