Criminals. Savages. No-good crooks.
There’s no other way to describe these guys. In what may be the most heinous crime of the summer, over $200,000 worth of wine has been stolen from two wineries in Barolo, Italy according to Wine Spectator. People are already living in fear of rosé prices and quantities, and now this? We have to deal with masked thieves just lifting 250 cases of wine from the Cordero di Montezemolo winery? Is there nothing sacred in the world?
The heist, which seems extremely elaborate and difficult to pull off, actually occurred at the end of June, per Eater.
The thieves were apparently highly strategic in their methods, donning special suits to conceal themselves from security cameras. The three perpetrators allegedly stole 120 cases of wine from Armando Parusso, packing the goods into one of Parusso’s own trucks after taking keys from an office. The wines stolen last week were reportedly quite rare, and owner Marco Parusso told Wine Spectator he hoped that would help with the recovery of the bottles.
And here I was thinking that the $26,000 worth of Pappy van Winkle that was stolen in Kentucky in 2015 was a big deal. This appears to be a straight-up Ocean’s 14-style theft that’s leaving these wineries in dire straits. Hopefully, these guys put the wine to good use and don’t do something stupid like sell it. .

Apparently wine provenance is a thing, and black market wine is relatively cheap. Just saying for those of you trying to save a buck.
Those guys must have had one fantastic GoT and wine marathon.
No worries, I’ve got them covered
It was Dave
Beat me to it.
