10 Simple Things That Will Make Life Easier For Anyone In Their 20s

  1. The perfect cup of coffee is 2 grams of coffee per 1 ounce of water. Drink at 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. The “poor man’s” gourmet seasoning: the best universal seasoning for any kind of food, from eggs to meat to fish to vegetables, is a three-fingered dash each of garlic powder, salt, and pepper, sprinkled evenly over each fist-sized serving.
  3. Discreet beer drinking: cut the very top and very bottom off a soda can and slide it like a sleeve over a beer can.
  4. Fix wrinkled shirt collars when you’re in a hurry: iron them with a hair straightener.
  5. Too many wires at your desk? Use bread clips to label wires and run them through binder clips clipped onto your desk to avoid a wiry mess.
  6. One-trip groceries: slide a large C-Clip (carabiner) through all your bag handles and carry them holding the C-Clip.
  7. Never lose your remote: use velcro to attach your remotes to the side of your coffee table.
  8. Leftovers: when reheating a slice of pizza in the microwave, put a glass with a small amount of water in it to keep the crust from getting chewy. Also, space out a circle in the middle of your leftovers to evenly heat them.
  9. The quick beer chill: wrap your beer in a wet paper towel before putting it in the freezer and it will be ice cold in about 15 minutes.
  10. Must-Use Techs:
  • Evernote – Cloud-based notepad for everything from to-do lists to grocery lists. Access it from your computer and smartphone.
  • Cardful – Digital business card holder app for the iPhone. Just take a picture of the business card with your phone and it syncs up with Evernote.
  • DocScan – Quickly scan notes and other documents and email them to yourself by taking a picture with your phone.
  • Uber – The best cab service ever, and it’s available on your smartphone. Set up a pickup and dropoff location, receive a picture of the driver, pay with your credit card. Choose between uberx (where a driver uses their own personal car), a black town car, or a black SUV. Bing, bang, boom.
  • DeskConnect – Send files quickly between your Mac, another Mac, and/or your other Apple devices.
  • Alfred – Quick file searching for your computer.
  • GrubHub – Solve the drunk munchies without having to settle for Dominos or driving drunk to Taco Bell. Choose from local restaurants that deliver.
