We all know Pokemon Go is huge right now. With the release of the game a couple of weeks ago, businesses have seen an increase in foot traffic and as a result, have also seen more revenue with people walking into their establishments in search of Pikachu and friends. In breaking news, Yelp just changed the game by adding a filter in their search engine that allows you to search for restaurants based on their proximity to Pokestops.
An explanation of the filter via Yelp’s blog:
To do this on mobile or desktop, simply search for a type of local business (“bars,” “restaurants,” etc.), swipe through the filter options at the top, hit “PokéStop Nearby,” and voilà! You can now find places to simultaneously run errands AND stock up on materials needed to catch that Eevee you’ve been eyeing.
This feature relies totally on user-submitted data based in survey results when users check in to business using yelp.
In order to leave no PokéStop unturned, we need your help! To identify a business that’s in the vicinity of a PokéStop, check in to that location on Yelp and answer a quick question to let fellow Yelpers and trainers know that this is the place they want to be.
So if you like the game as much as I do, it is your duty to get out there and survey the local joints in your area and let the world know where you can sit at dinner crushing chimi’s and margs while stocking up on pokeballs. See you out there..
