As someone who just moved to Denver, I can say honestly that Denver is where it’s at, and here’s why:
- It’s cheap! Compared to other cities, the rent in Denver is fairly inexpensive. You can find a decent place between $600 and $1,000 a month. Not to mention the gas is cheaper here.
- It’s active. There are parks everywhere along with sports leagues, fitness clubs, and people outside just running, biking, and playing sports.
- It’s accessible to other Colorado hot spots. Boulder, Golden, Colorado Springs, Aspen, Veil, Fort Collins…the list goes on.
- Weed is legal. Enough said.
- The music scene is great. There are tons of music venues and some of the best artists from all types of genres come here. Not to mention Red Rocks which is debatably one of the best places to see a concert in the world.
- THE FOOD. Denver food is off the chain. Anything you want, you can get. Food trucks, locally grown, fast and cheap, classy, Denver has it all.
- The people are nice. Those that live in Denver are genuinely kind and interested in becoming friends with you.
- The views. Every direction you look is beautiful. Whether you like the city skyline or the mountain backdrop, it only requires you turning your body 180 degrees and you can have both.
- They have all four major league sports: Broncos, Rockies, Avalanche and Nuggets, whatever your sport is, you can enjoy it here.
- Great bar scene. From dive bars and sports bars to clubs and bars with bowling alleys in them, Denver has what you want. Not to mention the amount of breweries which offer free tours aka free beer and all the great Colorado microbrews at the bars.
- Shopping. Cherry Creek has all the upscale shopping you can imagine if that’s your thing. Don’t have a lot of money? Not to worry, there are plenty of mom and pop shops in Denver that offer unique finds at reasonable prices.
- The mountains. Hiking, skiing, and admiring can all be done with the vast variety of mountains near Denver.
- Denver has drive thru liquor stores and the Target here sells hard alcohol. That’s that shit I do like.
- Denver has more days of sunshine than any other city in America, topping the charts at 300 sunny days a year, and who doesn’t love sunshine?
- If art is your thing, Denver has that too. Between the art district, the art museums and the weekly art walks, Denver has you covered.
- Dogs are everything. Dog parks, dogs in restaurants, dog themed stores. Denver is a very pet friendly and especially dog friendly city.
- The low humidity here means every day is a good hair day.
- Living here is good for your body. The high altitude increases the oxygen carrying capacity of your blood. This is why Colorado is a hot spot for athletes and even houses the USA Olympic training center.
“The South is cheaper, warmer, better food, and liberals are the minority.” Would be all I’d need in an article.
But where are your mountains?
Oh shit, nm.
Are we going to get one of these articles for every city in the United States? Denver is awesome though.
I have lived here for a almost 2 years and it is the tits, and you forgot skiing/snowboarding! HOWEVER, it’s not really cheap when you consider that the state is taking 14% of your paycheck in state tax, and weed may be legal, but if you have a corporate job you are still going to get tested and fired for it.
I agree that Denver is definitely a dope city. But where is Veil?
Veil, like the iron curtain? They left that in the USSR.
You had me sold until #16. Dogs in restaurants is disgusting.
Other than everyone sticking their views down your throat all the time, it’s a pretty awesome town
I created an account just to come here and comment on this. I hate to break it to you, but I’m a native Coloradoan and you can only hard liquor at ONE Target location in the whole state. Colorado law prevents full strength alcohol from being sold in retail anywhere but liquor stores, save for one outlet of each chain statewide. That being said, our altitude and craft alcohol selection make this the best place on earth to get drunk.
# 1: Because you live there.
STOP GIVING AWAY OUR SECRETS
I saw everything listed here except “you can easily find a job.” Seems kinda important.
Guess I’ll stay in DC…
