I personally like picking up the phone and calling someone. I prefer calling over texting. Same at work. I’d rather call someone than email them or instant message them, or if possible talk in person.
I hate camping too man. Been bashing it for years. It’s the worst. Especially picking everything up and packing it into the truck or car. And the sun wakes you up at like 6 am in the summer. Your tent starts to get hot. It’s the worst man.
Cold summers and cold lineup man. Giants can’t get there bats going to save their lives man. I’m crossing my fingers for an opposite of last season. A second half boom. Maybe we can at least make wild card again…
Beach volleyball, looking for apartments, and going to a birthday party at a bar with a max occupancy of 12 people tomorrow night. Should be interesting…
I’m just thinking about the quality of life man. Paying off that kind of debt in that short of time is brutal man. That’s all. If you wanna save money, obviously you wouldn’t wanna take my advice. But if you want a better quality of life, I’d consider it. Is there any way to quantify the benefits of low stress low amount monthly payment? Probably not. Is there any way to quantify the burden of facing insolvency month to month or living with your parents for years after graduation? Probably not. It’s just my opinion.
I’m pretty far down in the comments here steph, but hear my out.
Make the minimum payment possible. I get it. You don’t want debt. But student loans don’t hurt your credit, it’s not bad debt. So just make the minimum payment. Yes, you will close to double the principle in interest on those “extended graduate repayment plans”. That is absolutely true. No doubt. But is it worth busting your balls and putting undue financial hardship on yourself to pay off in 10 years, when you could have a minor nuisance payment for 25 years that ultimately, depending on your salary, may become negligible (aka you make a lot of money and who cares about that 150 dollar a month payment). I myself got my bachelors in accounting, pursuing cpa license (half way done! Fingers crossed), and I know several other people with similar credentials who advocate this. Why ruin your life for 10 years when you could just have a payment that many people would call a minor nuisance, and potentially even negligible. Trust me, you will pay an incredible amount of money in interest, no one can deny that. Your interest might even double the principle easily. But is it worth saving the interest to put yourself through that kind of stress for a decade? I don’t think so myself, although some I’m sure will disagree.
Amen brother. The craft beer scene is blowing up, and the beer shaming has never been worse. I’ve heard every insult in the book when I’m swilling bud/coors. Fuck em man. I vowed to myself no matter what socio economic class I am in, I’ll never be too good to throw back an obscene amount of cheap domestics at a backyard BBQ.
Shutting down as a go to move? Been there. That’s the worst man. You never know if it’s because they just shut down, or because they don’t care about you enough to talk with you.
More than funemployment, I see lots of girls doing the thing where they never leave their part time job after college because their parents will foot the bill for rent until they get a job. But then three years after college there still a hostess, waitress, barista, or retail employee. Part time. Guys too are guilty of this also.
I see this a lot in high cost areas on the west coast. Basically they turn the living room into a bed room, or split rooms (two beds to a room like a dorm room). People will hang up sheets, or put a rice paper screen in the living room, put their mattress on the floor, and that’s now a “room”. So two bedroom apartment now has four people living there. Two bedroom apartment with a living room now may have 3.
Some four or five bedroom houses may now house 10 people. All rooms are double, possibly the master being a triple. Its pretty common. Maybe not the 10+ people, but definitely three or four people to a two room apartment. I’ve heard stories of tech interns and new hires in Silicon Valley doing two bunk beds in a one bed room apartment, aka four dudes to a one bed.
Gonna get back into hard liquor this weekend I think. Been housing cheap beer every weekend for awhile now. Really wanna go back to good old vodka tonics.

Got that job in the Bay Area bill! I’ll be moving there next month!

Mr. Met is a scaliwag. And I love it.
Getting ripped or what Dave?
I’m always a supporter of laying pipe on a co worker man. Good stuff man!
Looking for room rentals in the Bay Area. Most likely moving there in a month.
Used to be my go to shot at a bar.
Now it’s well tequila.

Can’t believe no one mentioned watching the basketball game. That’s what I’ll be doing. I’ll be five vodka tonics deep by the time it’s over.
Very good. Very good.

Trying to throw it in the pooper on your birthday. Classic.
Keep grinding brother!
