No, this is a movie about a love triangle, set against the backdrop of “one of the deadliest attacks in American history”. The history is spurious, what with Danny and Rafe taking on the Japanese Naval Air Force in Hawaii, Rafe flying Spitfires in the Battle of Britain, and both of them sticking it to the Japanese as members of Doolittle’s Raiders – the trick is to take all that with a grain (or three…) of salt and enjoy the drama and heartache (not to mention Kate Beckinsale in that deelish retro nurse’s uniform…).
